Michael Edgar Stanley, age 59 of Carbon passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009. 

He was born on March 28, 1949, in Canadian, Texas to Alva George Stanley and Mary Fawn Brinegar Stanley who preceeded him in death along with his brother Jammy Alan Stanley.  He was a graduate of Carbon High School and a decorated Vietnam War Veteran.  He was a great brother and uncle.  He was a very loving and generous man who would help anyone who needed it.  He loved his books and rarely did you see him without one.  He is loved and will be missed but will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Services were held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Gorman, Texas on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Oliver L. Grumbles officiating.

Survivors include his sister, Florence Stanley Wooley and husband, Paul Tim Wooley of Burleson, TX; brother Kenneth Paul (Bo) Stanley and wife, Neoma of Alvarado, TX; niece, Misty and husband Greg Gilmore; nephew, Brian Paul and wife SaLena Wooley; niece, Kristy Gova and family; niece, Jessica Malloy and family; and nephew, Kelton Paul Moore of family; great nieces, Haley and Kelsey Gilmore; great niece and nephew, Shy' Ann and Logan Wooley; and many more friends and family.
