Winnette Norris (Maynard)

Winnette (Norris) Maynard of Eastland passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Hendrick Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.  She had celebrated her 80th birthday on May 4.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Summers-Bakker Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland.

Winnette was born in Fisher County, Texas on May 4, 1929, to Charlie and Myrtle Norris.  She attended Carbon Schools and graduated in 1946.  She married Walter B. Maynard on September 5, 1947, celebrating over 61 years together.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Her first job was with Davis Maxey Drug Store on the square in Eastland, and later with Victor Cornelius Menus.  She enjoyed bowling and was a state champion team member sponsored by Koen Salvage.  She was an avid artist, winning ribbons at various fairs.  Her hobbies were gardening, camping and being a homemaker.

Survivors are her husband, Walter Maynard of Eastland; daughter, Rhonda Delaney and husband Chuck of Waco; son, Rocky Maynard and wife Joanna of Eastland; and daughter Jan Bolin and husband Walt of Stamford.

Grandchildren - Jodi and Spencer Hight of Fort Worth, Amy and Ryan Hadley of San Antonio, Kevin and Paige Hood of Eastland, Mandy Maynard of Eastland, Rusty Maynard of Eastland, Kristi Hollaway of Fort Worth, Cody Green of Strawn, Matthew Bolin of White Settlement, Nathan Bolin of Diboll, Thomas Bolin of Kings Bay, Georgia, and Waylan Bolin of Potosi.

Great Grandchildren - Chase and Lowrey Hight, Macie Hood, Kaleb and Kayton Maynard and Doc Holloway.

Sisters - Faye Hadderton of Jacksboro, Cleo Duncan and Juanita Zahn of Eastland.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Elmer, George, and Paul Norris and her sisters, Lettie Pulling, Lorena Phelps and Louise Dorsey.
