Arduth Ruth Hallmark, age 78, passed from this life on February 25, 2014 after a short illness at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.  Arrngements were handled by Bakker Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas.  Funeral services were held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Eastland, Texas.  Rev. Darrel Phillips officiated and interment was at Eastland Cenetery.  Ruth was born August 30, 1935 in Eastland County, Texas to Frank and Bessie Beaty.  At the age of sixteen, she gaduated valedictorian in the class of 1951 from Carbon High School.  She then earned an Associate's degree from Cisco Junior College, where she was chosen to be a member  of the Madrigal Singers in choir.  A devoted wife and mother, Ruth primarily worked as a homemaker.  Ruth married Grover Eddie Hallmark on November 21, 1953.  They have one son, Robert Karl Hallmark of Midland, Texas.  Grover and Ruth lived in Eastland from 1956 to 2006, when they moved to Midland to be closer to their son and daughter-in-law.  Ruth served her community in several ways.  As a member of the Methodist Church for 50 years, she taught Sunday school and played piano and sang in the choir during church services. Through the banner committee at First United Methodist in Midland, she helped sew banners needed for church services.  Additionally, Ruth sewed dresses that were donated to families in Costa Rica and blankets that were given to mothers of premature babies at Midland Memorial Hospital and Odessa Regional Hospital.  She also volunteered for the American Heart Association.  Ruth loved painting, sewing, singing, scrapbooking and her faith in God.  She enjoyed exploring the Southwest with Grover and along the way sharing family stories with friends.  Her devotion to family defined her life, and the support she gave her family members was invaluable to their success.  Ruth was happiest working tirelessly to support Grover in all of his endeavors.  She is survived by son Robert and wife Jill of Midland, Texas, three grandchildren:  Jarod and wife Stephanie of Wyie, Texas;Allie and husband Alex of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Pat and Linda Guy of Grandbury, Texas.  One nephew Tony and wife Donna Wood of Killeen, Texas, two nieces:  Lisa and husband Jeff Gould of Coppell, Texas; and Lori Baucum of Coppell, Texas.
