Cleatus Hyatt

Cleatus Edwin Hyatt, class of 1936, of Lucas, Texas died December 7, 2009.  He was born August 20, 1918 in Gorman, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula and AA Hyatt, four brothers and three sisters.  Mr. Hyatt is survived by his wife of 64 years, Luella Hyatt; one daughter, Elaine Lemons and husband, Jerral of Lucas, Texas; two sons, Glenn Hyatt and wife, Debbie of Lubbock, Texas and Steve Hyatt and wife Renee of Garland, Texas; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Mr. Hyatt also resided in Gorman, Lubbock, and Amarillo, Texas.  After serving in World War II in the Army Air Corp from 1940-1945 being stationed in India, Burma, Australia, he graduated from Texas Tech University in 1949.  Mr. Hyatt taught school in Blackwell, Texas for over three years before working and retiring from S&H Green Stamps after twenty-five years of service.   Since 1979 he has enjoyed gardening and protecting a 100+ year old pecan tree.  He was a charter member of Cornerstone Worship Center, McKinney, Texas.

A memorial was held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. John Hollard officiating.
