Gorman -- Robert Arvel Barnett, age 88 of Gorman, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Mulberry Manor Nursing Home in Stephenville.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Oaklawn Cemetery with Bro. Barry Schahn officiating.

Mr. Barnett was born on September 21, 1921 in Eastland County to Joseph Madison Barnett and Millie Mae Murray Barnett.  He married Bobbie Joe Sanders on November 25, 1939 in Carbon, Texas.  She preceded him in death in January 2004.  He was a retired farmer and rancher and had lived all of his life in the Gorman area.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Larry Barnett and wife, Colene of Wylie; daughter, Kay Lynn Lasater and husband, Emmett of Eastland; two sisters, Connie Cate and Dorota Cate both of Eastland; four grandchildren, Pam Wheat and husband, David of Possum Kingdom Lake, Treva Keith and husband, Brad of Allen, Lori Akers and Husband, Miley of Charlotte, N.C. and Whitney Crews and husband Jeff of Lindale; five great grandchildren, Jake Keith, Miley and Kaylee Akers, Kelsey and Makenna Crews; and severl nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by sister, Donniei Mathison and to brothers, Billy Joe Barnett and Earl Gene Barnett.
