Paul Hayes

Profile Updated: August 27, 2009
Residing In: Freeland, MI USA
Children: Harrison Todd Hayes, born 2000, adopted. He was born four to six weeks premature and I brought him More…home weighing just over 4 pounds. He continues to be the miracle I hoped for but never expected.
Occupation: Pharmacist
What have you been doing for the last 25 years?

I've been working at Covenant HealthCare since 1994 after I graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelors in Pharmacy. Since then, I've become the pharmacy liaison for our Information Technology department and I work in the IT department as a systems analyst pharmacist. We recently installed an electronic medical record, so we are going paperless. (Blah blah, boring, I know.)

Several years ago, I started taking classes for my English degree with intensive study in creative writing at SVSU. I'm almost done, but I've put it on hold to concentrate on raising Harrison. I've written several short stories and I am writing a book now that I hope to publish. (Sounds more grand than it really is. It's hard work, a lot of research, and revision after revision after revision... but it's pure joy.)

I'm a health nut. I do kickboxing (Ken Po), yoga, weightlifting, plyometrics, you name it. I try to eat right and teach Harrison to do the same. I plan to live forever or at least long enough to have great grandchildren. ::smirk::

We live out in Freeland (between Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland) in a big log home. It's a neat way to live. In the summer, I plant and maintain the garden and do as much as I can outside, like camping, kayaking, biking. Michigan is a great place to live. I've discovered thousands of unique places for recreation here.

Memories of CHS:

I have many fond memories of Caro High, but I'm the guy who reinvented himself from the ground up once I left, so I don't dwell too much on it.

There are many people who stand out, some of who have already contacted me through this website. I hope to reach out to many others. It's good to remember our antics from 20+ years ago.

What's one thing you would change if you could go back to CHS?

Oh my gosh, those awful greasy pizzas they used to serve! How many of those heart-cloggers did I eat in my wonder years? I shudder to think.

Can I change more than one thing?

By far, my favorite picture of Harrison. This was taken at my cabin up north. Some day, Harrison will ask me, "Poppa, why aren't you in any of the pictures with me?" and I will answer, "If you look closely, you can see the reflection of me in your eyes." (No kidding. I took this one in such high resolution that when you enlarge his eye to the size of your monitor, you see me plain as day and holding the camera.)

My sisters and I camp with our families one week each year. This is Port Huron. Harrison and I live for the beach.

Photography is a hobby of mine. I've taken family pictures, wedding pictures, senior pictures for many friends and family members.
