Married Doug 19 August 1972...going on 50 years

I have great memories during high school--being a cheerleader, working behind the lunch counter at Woolworth's, going to the youth center, hanging out at the Red Balloon, and being part of the CYO--all off of Route 25 in Carpentersville. I also have great memories from Lakewood Junior High School.

All the boys I didn't kiss and wish I would have...you know who you are! And maybe a few I did kiss and perhaps I shouldn't have...

Left Carpentersville on graduation night with two friends for a three month road trip around the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Didn't think or plan that far ahead...and still don't. I prefer to let life unfold as it will, with just a touch of planned spontaneity.

- Personnel Management Specialist for the US Department of the Navy
- Area Director for the Special Olympics in Washington State
- Research Assistant for Wellesley College, Massachusetts
- Research Assistant for an elder care program in the Pacific Northwest.
- A handful of volunteer positions including Sign Languate Instructor and a tutor to teach adults how to read.

Marrying Doug...who was a sailor I met on a beach on the Outer Banks of North Carolina just weeks after leaving high school. The day we married was the 8th time I had ever seen him. I only wonder why I waited so long.

Probably a few serious health issues--not worth mentioning here. They were the reason that I was unable to attend our 50th Class Reunion. I was set to attend however was unable to obtain medical clearance to travel.

In 1990 after serving for 25 years in the US Navy, Doug retired. We then sold our house and auctioned off most all of our personal possessions and hit the road as full-time RVers in our 5th wheel travel trailer. About 5 years and 100,000 miles later, we resettled in the Pacific Northwest--again on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound.

In 1995 I returned to school--this time at Western Washington University to complete a 4-uear degree in Human Services.

Then I went on to a doctoral program where in 2001 I earned a Ph.D. in Human Development.

Almost immediately I began coursework with the William Glasser Institute to become a Certified Reality Therapist which I completed in 2005

As of 2006 I hold a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.

Famous in the world as one of the 5 major theorists of psychology, Dr. William Glasser, founder of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy

From my point of view, the last 50 years have been quite an adventure. I hope it continues well into the future.
