Carol Manley (Douglas)
Ok, I've been tagged so here's my 10 random things by Carol Manley Douglas for what it's worth.
1. Nothing makes me feel like a kid again more than getting on a bicycle. I'm not into mountain let's-see-if-I-can-break-my-neck biking that John loves, just neighborhood strolls.
2. I can see the space shuttle launch from my back yard. That probably sounds fake, like I can see Russia from my front porch, but it's true, about the shuttle. I can't see Russia.
3. I refuse to set foot in any body of Florida water except the ocean, due to alligators. I've been the object of ridicule from the natives because of this. I don't mind; laugh away! (I realize the ocean has sharks but there I take my chances.)
4. I've seen the Beatles Love show in Las Vegas no less than 4 times in recent years. Shameless I know, but I don't want to branch out to other shows. That's the only reason I go to Vegas; it's great!
5. I love being a grandmother so much and here's the proof. I take my Tristin to crowded theme parks in the summertime. Is that love, or what?
6. You know how college kids today tend to backpack around Europe, unlike us 70's kids who were busy being responsible and getting on with our lives? Well, I did this with my college age daughter Tara, when I was 44. We started in Athens, went all through Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and ended in Paris. With Rick Steves in hand we saw the Parthenon, Rome, the great art in Florence, the Alps, toured a German concentration camp near Munich, rode the trains, and generally discovered our great ignorance. It was hard and exhilarating; I practically came home in a body bag, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world.
7. A few years later I had the chance to go back to Europe with a girlfriend; also a great trip. We went as adults though, and while it was less exhausting, not as much fun as backpacking.
8. For my birthday this summer, I am getting....a new granddaughter! and for Thanksgiving, a daughter-in-law!
9. I was living in California during the Northridge earthquake, about 2 hours north of the epicenter. My house was like jello at 4:30 a.m. Pretty scary.
10. I have the world's most beautiful bulldog, Sammy. I know beautiful bulldog is an oxymoron, but to prove it I will post his picture. No dog/owner look-alike comments, please...
Now that you have all the fab details of my exciting life,(sarcasm) I would love to hear from Wanda Hopper. You have been tagged.
