Jim was my friend. My boyfriend in 8th grade, and my friend later on after college. We kept in contact up to the point of his death. He used to call me "Yasmine my queen".  I think of him often, and still miss him. He was a sweet, sensitive,  and kind man.

Jim was a grand guy all the way from Kenwood through Washington.  I remember him through annual contributions to the Fischer House Foundation in his name.  I can still see him smiling.

Jim was my locker mate for six years (Franklin/Washington) and a fellow colleague on the baseball diamond for the same period. He was a special guy and I always looked  forward to seeing him at our reunions. His nickname for me was "surfer", the origin of that I do not know. His death was a sad day for me. Jim was well liked by a lot of people and despite his combative nature, he really had a soft heart. We had a lot of good times together.

Jim Hamer was one of a kind. He was funny and caustic and sweet. It broke my heart when I heard he died. My dad said Jim was a casualty of the Vietnam war and I believe that was true. I can still see that impish 6th grade face.

Does anyone else remember " a feef weevil and a loaf of bread"? No idea what it meant,  but it was one of the musings of a uniquely clever mind.

Jim was such a funny guy but with a surprising deep side too. I also remember "feef weevil and a loaf of bread" and had not thought of that in years until I saw Kris Klima Nassifs note. I do wonder what the heck that meant. I think Jim may have been the inventor of sarcasm.  I smile to think of him.....
