Dixie L (Floyd) Chavez Thompson passed away Oct. 6, 2005 surrounded by her family and friends following a short illness with melanoma. Dixie was born Nov. 3, 1948, in Cedar Rapids,She married Gail Thompson on May 14, 1983.

Survivors include her husband Gail and three sons, Denis Chavez, Greg and Tony Schmelzer.  Six grandchildren and six step grandchildren.
