Gregory “Big Wing” “Bud” K. Wingfield, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospice. Greg was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and graduated in 1967 from Washington High School, where he excelled in football, basketball and track. Greg was a member of the 1966 winning 800 relay team at the Drake Relays. From 1967-1968, Greg attended Keokuk (Iowa) Community College and played basketball. He also played semipro football for the Cedar Rapids Raiders and was invited to tryout with the Green Bay Packers. He was an avid chess player.
