Dale F. "Bucket" Franck, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, April 16, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with Pastor Beth Hilkerbaumer presiding. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Brosh Chapel.

Dale was born Feb. 26, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Perry and Louise (Strait) Franck. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School in 1967. Dale was united in marriage to Nancy McGregor on April 28, 1973, in Cedar Rapids. He worked for many years for the city of Cedar Rapids landfill as a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 2003.

Dale enjoyed the Cubs, Hawkeyes, Bears, watching NASCAR, cooking and spending time with his family, including his "babies," Barney and Sissy, his miniature schnauzers; and Sadie, the cat.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Charles (Shannon) Franck of Cedar Rapids, Jennifer (Tom) Butler and Sarah (Adam) Wood, both of Marion, and Jon Franck (Amy Mrozinski) of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren, Kale, Courtney, Kyle, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Arayah, Lance and Annie; a great-grandson, Knox; two brothers, David (Maxine) Franck and Dennis (Conni) Franck, both of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Gale Franck, Diane Franck, Terry Lown and Lori Franck, all of Cedar Rapids; brothers-in-law, Don Vanous of Rowley and Bill McGregor of Atkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, Paul, Calvin, Dean (Ruth) and Larry (Carol) Franck; his three sisters, Gloria Franck, Nancy (Jim) Snodgrass and Penny Vanous; and a nephew, Andrew Lown.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

The family would like extend a special thank-you to Dale's caregivers, the staff at Mercy Medical Center and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Dr. Mark Hogenson – Mercy Care Vernon Village and staff for its loving care for Dale and his family.
