Dear Friends,
I am writing to inform you that Sherri passed away at 11:34 PM on August 18th at the Hospice House in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After her most recent appointment in Florida last Wednesday, Sherri decided to no longer receive treatment and wished to come home to Cedar Rapids to see her mother and family and go to the Hospice House. Her passing was very peaceful. I would like to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, flowers, calls and cards as she fought this battle with cancer. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers in the days to come.

It saddens me think about the loss of my long, long time classmate Sherri (Homire) Justice. We have been good friends from fifth grade at Hiawatha Elementary School, to present. We grew up together, worked at Younker's together, attended past class reunions with our husbands, and have continued to correspond throughout the past 55 years.
I'm SO thankful that my husband Jerry and I went to Florida in Jan 2014 to spend a few days with Sherri & Dave. We had a simply awesome time with them, they took us to their favorite sites and eateries.
A few of our classmates have been meeting since the fall 2013, Sherri invited me to attend the second time with her before snowbirding. It was in March when I called her to check when they were returning, that we learned she was just diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. What a shock...I miss her so much.
Sherri was a lot of fun, she was always seen with a big smile on her happy face. She died totally in love with her sole mate Dave of 46 years. She is missed SO much, by so many of us. She loved to sing, quilt, and spend time with her family.
God Bless You Forever Sherri.

There are not to many girls I knew well in school but Sherri was one of those. I too lived in Hiawatha just two houses from Sherri in gradeschool. I remember when her family moved there from a farm in the Keystone area. She and her sister Patsy used to sing as a country duet at a young age with Patsy playing guitar. Now this will bring back memories for everyone, they were on the Dr. Max show singing at least once that I can remember.
I lost touch with her after graduation but I did have the chance to run into her at our I believe was our 10th reunion at the Roosevelt hotel and met her husband Dave. We (my then wife Debby) actually sat with them that entire evening and little to my ackowledge Debby and Sherri were friends prior to the Homire family moving to Hiawatha. After that evening I agree with Terry when she said Sherri had married her sole mate. They seemed to be so happy together.
There was nothing NOT to like about Sherri. She was a great person. I am sure that everyone that knew her misses her.
