Patricia J. Larson, 73, died peacefully at her home in Naperville, IL, on September 13, 2022. Patty is survived by her husband Mark E. Larson, Jr. and their four children, Adam Larson of Breckenridge, CO, Peter Larson of Grayslake, IL, Alex Larson of St. Charles, IL, and Gretchen Larson of Alexandria VA. She is also survived by two sisters Ann Lewis & Kim Marton, a brother John Jekerle, 9 grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Patty was born July 9, 1949, to Arlene and Joe Jekerle and grew up in Cedar Rapids IA. After graduating from Washington High School, she earned a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University in Ames IA. After college she followed her dream to move to the big city to work as a computer programmer for the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, then as a systems analyst for Irving Trust Bank in New York and finally as a Systems AVP for the Northern Trust Bank in Chicago. Following a decade in the computer field, she retired to raise a family in Minnesota and then in Texas before the family came to Naperville, IL. in 1988. While raising her children, she took a part-time position as the Bursar for the UFG Institute at Marquette University, and later co-founded and served as the CFO for Rush-Wood Imaging Partners, Ltd which opened the first PET Imaging Center in Chicago. Patty was a remarkable woman beloved by the many whose life she changed. Strong willed and opinionated, she was resolute in her undertakings, and passionate about making sure the people in her life felt loved. She was a devoted wife and mother and known by her friends and colleagues for her candor, diligence, kindness, intelligence, and generosity. She was the matriarch of her clan and held multiple leadership positions as a fundraiser at her children's schools and as a Den Mother for Scouting. In her spare time, Patty was a voracious reader who immersed herself in fantasy novels, an adventurous cook & holiday hostess, a road-tripping American traveler, an avid Mahjong player, and a gardener whose flower beds and vegetable yields were of prize-winning caliber. Visitation will be held at Friedrich-Jones Funeral & Cremation Services, 44 S Mill St. Naperville, IL on Friday September 23, 2022, from 4 to 8pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 24, at 1:00pm at Grace United Methodist Church 300 Gartner Road Naperville, IL. Interment will be arranged privately. In lieu of flowers those wishing to celebrate Patty's memory are asked to contribute in her name to the Alzheimer's Association of America or a charity of their choosing.
