After graduating from Iowa State in 1976 in Home Ec, I married Rick who had just graduated from University of Iowa. (Yes. We have a mixed marriage. I am the minority since all 3 of our children also graduated from the University of Iowa) I taught high school one year at Valley High School in West Des Moines but then moved to Omaha when Rick entered Creighton Law School. When we moved back to Cedar Rapids I started a career as a fundraising professional after years of volunteering with fundraising campaigns. I worked as the Director of Development with Four Oaks, a human service agency, then worked for the Chamber of Commerce as Coordinator for Foresight 2020, a Linn County strategic planning initiative, then a 15 year career as Vice-President of Development for Mercy Medical Center. I actually used 2 classmates - Dr. Scot Sedlacek and Dr. Sarah Morgan - to be keynote speakers for our women's health initiative. Thanks, Scot and Sarah. I announced retired in Jan. 2020 with a retirement date of April 1, 2020. Bad timing with covid sending everyone into isolation that month.
