In this Web Site Privacy Statement ("statement"), we, The Citadel Cadet Class of 1989, provide information about how we collect, use and transfer personally identifiable data from you, a web site visitor to www.citadel89.com (the "site").
 
Scope
This statement covers data collected through the site and the terms of use of the site.
 

Use
This site is solely for the use of the the members of The Citadel Cadet Class of 1989 for the purpose of social networking, class communication, and general catch up. Commercial use of this site is limited to Class sanctioned events only (such as our reunion). If you attempt to use this site to solicit business for your personal benefit, you will be banned...plain and simple.

Actively Submitted Data: All data collected on the MyProfile and Reunion Planning Survey are stored within the site's database for viewing by you and other registered visitors to the site. All data on these screens are known to the visitor since the visitor actively submits the data.

Passively Tracked Data: When you visit the site, we also passively track information on your Internet connection, such as the IP address of your computer and/or Internet service provider, the date and time you access our web sites, the Internet address of web sites from which you link to our site, the computer technology you are using and your movements and preferences on our site. These data are tracked for security reasons to allow the system administrator to monitor user accounts for abuse by unauthorized visitors.

We do NOT use "cookies" or small data files stored on your computer's hard drive, to collect information such as the aforementioned. You do not need to have cookies turned on to update your profile or participate in surveys or to visit our site.

Collection Purposes, Use of Data
We collect passively tracked data primarily for purposes of administering, protecting and improving our site and our systems, to better understand the preferences of our site visitors, to identify server problems, to compile aggregated statistics about site usage, and to help personalize your experience of our site.

We do not share your personally identifiable information with others, except as follows:

Data marked as viewable by classmates will be available for viewing online via the Class Search only to classmates that are registered users. Visitors to the website will be restricted from viewing this information.

The Citadel Foundation may request information regarding basic alumni information. We will only share data that the visitor has indicated may be shared on the Data Transfer Security screen. We may share your information as required by law or in the interest of protecting or exercising our or others' legal rights, e.g., without limitation, in connection with requests from law enforcement officials and in connection with court proceedings.

Security
Transmissions over the Internet are never 100% secure or error-free. However, we take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Personal information is accessible only via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to provide secure, encrypted transmissions of data between the visitor's computer and this site. It is your responsibility to safeguard any password and Username you use to access the site and to notify us on the "Contact Us" tab above if you ever suspect that this password or Username has been compromised. You are solely responsible for any unauthorized use of the site conducted via your password and Username. The site may remove any usernames/accounts due to abuse without notice to the visitor.
