Phil McDaniel's wife Sandra has passed away.
  Sandra Hill McDaniel "Sandy" CHARLOTTE - Mrs. McDaniel, 67, of Charlotte, NC, went to her heavenly home, Monday, December 10, 2012 at her residence, after a long battle with Parkinsonism. Sandy was born August 21, 1945 to the late Isaac Gibson Hill and Estelle Sewell Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kerley of Huntersville. She grew up in Charlotte and Huntersville and attended middle school in Huntersville, NC and graduated from North Mecklenburg High School. One of her most treasured achievements was to be inducted into the Charlotte Area Shaggers Hall of Fame. Before her illness, she was an avid shagger and supporter of shag events in Charlotte and North Myrtle Beach. She loved shopping, going to the beach and listening to beach music She worked for years for Jim Barnett Contracting, Sonic Automotive, and Finish Line Events and was a member of Grace Baptist Church. The McDaniel family will gather to greet friends from 12Noon until 1:45 PM, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon. A service to celebrate her life will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Sandy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Phil McDaniel of the home; sister, Carol Church and her husband, Johnny of Huntersville, NC; nephew, Jerry Church and wife, Becky and their children: Presley and Ava Church; niece, Leslie Hall and husband, Mark of Lexington, NC and their children: John, Madeline and Zach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son, Scott McDaniel in 1996. The family would like to express its gratitude for the thoughtfulness that will linger in our memories for years to come to: longtime friend, Martha Honeycutt for her monthly visits, the Gentiva Home Health, the kind Nurses of Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region and to all the family members and friends who have expressed their sympathy and support during our time of sorrow. John Franklin Gay, Jr. "Frank" CHARLOTTE - John Franklin Gay, Jr., "Frank", 72, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at Presbyterian Hospital. Frank is survived by his wife Sharon, daughter Wendy Jones (and husband Mike), son John Gay (and wife Aylin), four grandchildren Molly and Jack Jones, and Katie and Alyssa Gay. A service to celebrate Frank's life will be held at Matthews United Methodist Church on Friday, January 03, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
