Camelia James (Glover)

I would like to thank all of the planning committee for a most enjoyable reunion September 19th. The only thing missing was the wonderful aroma of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and the beautiful sight of fresh fruits and vegtables at Bumgardners Produce.
Thanks again for all of your time and hard work.

Pam, you and the entire organizing committee should be very proud. This reunion was clearly well planned and well executed, and the result was a special evening enjoyed by all. I only wish we didn't have to wait another five years to do it again. That's a long time for a bunch of nearly 70 year-olds, you know. And with this terrific website (thanks to Bobby Funderburk) we have a communication tool that can easily be used to facilitate more frequent get-togethers for those who are interested and available. Nothing so fancy as this fantastic 50 year reunion, of course. Maybe a lunch here, a dinner there, an occasional party at someone's house. And anyone living out-of-town who happens to be in Charlotte could let it be known so we can get together with them while they're here. Let's make it happen, guys... what do you say?

Pam Worley (Walters)

Dear friends, I so enjoyed seeing so many of you at the reunion. Just wish we'd had more time to spend together. Thank you for the kind words for our planning committee. We worked hard, and yes, we are proud of the result. Maybe we won't wait five years for another reunion! What do you think?
Warm regards to you all,
Pam

Thanks Phoebe for posting the pictures. You got some I missed. We all had fun.
Just shoveled 6 of the 14 + inches of snow off my deck we got on Dec. 18(a month ago). It has been so cold down to 8 and high only in 20's for weeks. Warming now and had a Ice surge yesterday on New River. Slab's of Ice 12 in. thick flotted down and a lot landed on the bank in my front yard. A site to see.
I enjoyed Christmas & New Years driving to my daughter's and family in Lousania. Gone 2 1/2weeks driving in 8 states. Good to be home.
"Happy New Year" to all JOY Pope Murray in VA
Love to hear other folks news.

Today I spoke with LaVonda King and Jimmy did  have a stroke about one week ago.  He is fine now and hopes to come home from the hospital on Friday, May 7th.  LaVonda said that he certainly would appreciate hearing from his fellow Rams and that the cards and phone calls have helped him in his recovery.  Also their daughter has had a bout with cancer.  Let's keep Jimmy and his family in our thoughts and prayers and hope that they are both well soon.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR "GIRLS OF MAY", AND THEY ARE:

            MAY 18:  PAM WORLEY WALTERS

            MAY 20: RUTH LANGFORD BLACKWELDER

            MAY 28: CAMELIA JAMES GLOVER

HAVE A GOOD ONE GIRLS AND MANY MORE, YOUR FELLOW RAMS OF 59!

. . . .only wish we didn't have to wait another five years to do it again. . . .

. . . .let's make it happen guys, what do you say?. . . . these were the words of classmates wanting

to take advantage of the time that we have left to be together,  and that which we can never take

for  granted.   That's all it took for our  planning committee to get together and we were making the

arrangements for a BBQ, April 30, 2011 and the rest is history.  We had about 59-60 classmates

with their spouse, significant other, or just themselves to come.  If anyone left hungary it was

your own fault, the food was plentiful and good.  We even had take-out trays to take home!  If you

didn't make it to this one, maybe next time.  We sure would like to see ya!

Went to see Million Dollar Quartet at Charlotte's Knight Theater and the show is based on a true story....a meeting of Elvis Pressley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins at Sun Recording Studio in 1955.  The actors actually played the instruments and the guy who played Jerry Lee Lewis took me right back to a performance Trish, Mayme Jo probably Betty Edwards and I attended at the old Charlotte Coliseum.  Do not miss this show if it comes to your area.  It will be in Charlotte thru Dec 11.  Try to go......
