Jimmy Hooks

Worked for Wachovia for a year and then left to attend college in 1958. Continued working at Wachovia in the summers and holidays until I graduated in 1962 from NCSU. Went back to school later in life and received a graduate degree from Duke. Traveled extensively during my career with IBM and lived in numerous places including Japan. I moved to Raleigh 4 different times, with the last time being 1981 and have been here ever since. I grew up in Glenwood and miss my neighborhood friends and classmates from Harding. I attend the HHS luncheons whenever I can. I have never missed any of my class reunions and enjoyed them immensely.

Not much to tell here. I was always the smallest one in my class through grammar school, junior high and most of high school. I felt almost invisible. When my friends realized that I was sensitive about it they teased my unmercifully. When I would drive to our favorite hang out everybody would scream "here comes a car with no driver" or I was the only baseball player that had to jump up to catch a ground ball, or I was always being asked to step out of that hole I was in etc.
The 2nd bravest thing that I ever did in high school was to walk out of Miss Watson's geometry class and run away to Florida. The bravest thing that I ever did was to re-enter Miss Watson's class after being caught and brought back from Florida
