William Thalmann

William George Thalmann (Bill), 72, died of acute respiratory failure, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and pulmonary fibrosis, on Sunday, January 21, 2024, in Falls Church, VA. He was born on October 8, 1951, in Mineola, NY. His parents, George and Katherine Thalmann, lived in Valley Stream, NY. His family moved to Charlottesville, VA, in 1960, and he moved to Northern Virginia in 1971 after completing basic training with the Army. Upon his discharge, he worked for Audio Associates, Excalibur Audio, and conrad-johnson, in Northern Virginia. He later ran his own business—Music Technology—in Springfield, VA, where he worked until July 31, 2023. Aside from his love of music, all things hi-fi, flying, and cars, he was an animal lover (especially cats); a terrific partner, father, and friend; and all-around good dude. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Hupp, of Falls Church; daughter Alyssa Thalmann and daughter-in-law Jane Lovato of Asheville, NC; and sister Katherine Joseph and brother-in-law Richard Joseph of Charlottesville, VA.
