Mike Carter (1966)
Had not seen George since one night several years ago at the Bessie Smith Strut. He was with Mike Taylor. We visited for a while. George was a friend from Normal Park, Northside, and finally City High School. I walked to school. George's mom made it a point to give a couple of my friends and me an invitation to "stop by on our way to school." She gave us a breakfast snack and a ride to school. I am sure George learned a lot from his parents. He was always kind to me. He got me on the stage crew at Northside where he and I worked for Chamberlain. George and I were the stage crew. Chamberlain taught us a lot about lighting. We loved working on the stage crew. Wish I had continued it at City, but I didn't. Tried many times to find George, but nobody knew anything about him. Guess I asked the wrong people. Never crossed paths again until he passed away. Visited with his family at OLPH where the funeral was held.
