Saw the announcement today in the Chattanoogan about Lanier.  Boy do I remember him and the neat older Porsche he drove to City.  Remember, on occasion, we would skip out at lunch and drive around N. Chattanooga and then speed back to class.  He was a sophmore and I was a senior, but he made an impression.

Travel well Lanier and RIP.

I thought of you Lanier on June 30th as it was your 39th wedding anniversary with Peggy.  It seems as only yesterday Doug and I were in your wedding.  Doug has so many fond memories of growing up with you on Missionary Ridge and all of the shenanigans you two would get into.  I know your family was your life and your 3 daughters and son miss you terribly as well as Peggy.  You would be proud of them and how strong they have been since the news of your death was such a surprise.  You raised them well and they loved you more than life.  Your precious granddaughters and grandson will be a living legacy for you.  You will be always be missed by everyone you knew and loved you.  You worked so hard and now it's time to rest.  Sit, be still and know that you will never be forgotten.  I know you're in Heaven smiling down on your loved ones and we're all better people for knowing and loving you.  Rest in peace my friend.

I grew up with lanier and attended missionary ridge school with him. I knew his father , mother and brother and they were all good and honorable  people. I further knew lanier as he operated the brainerd cleaners on brainerd road.as a customer I saw numerous  times as each year passed. He was a good person and he be missed by many people. May god bless him and his family.
