Tommy Hughes (1971)

Eddie was a great guy and friend growing up in St. Elmo. He enjoyed fishing, shooting, motorcycle riding, and using his black '61 Pontiac to tip over garbage cans. When I went to college I failed to make sure the dorm had a place to park my motorcycle out of the weather, so I immediately thought of leaving it with Eddie to ride and take care of for me. Even though he was a little tough on his own bikes, I was sure he would take care of mine and he did. Eddie became a welder and worked for TVA welding the turbines and things in the dams. Eddie died as a result of injuries he received in motorcycle wreck when he laid his bike down to avoid hitting some of the people he was riding with.During the about 90 day he spent in the hospital after the wreck, he renewed his faith in the Lord Jesus. Here's his obituary.
