Glad to hear all is well!  We had a great time at Jimmy's.  Some of the Classmates that were there we had not seen for 51 years.  One brought some pictures of several Classmates attending his Engagement Party.  One is sending me a picture of all the Rooks from Company "C"  unfortunately Dave Duthie was sick when it was taken, and is not in the Picture.  But your are in it!  Bob Konzelmann,  Don Plaxe, Ted Zak, and Joe Garcia were first times to the Group, they all enjoyed it. As things stand we will be planning a get together in the Fall because the Summer Time is for Families.  Some of the Men want to meet from time to time in the Shore area, if anything starts to develope of course I will keep you informed.  John Lynch will be going in for Heart Surgery at the end of June begining of July.  The Fall will be in the Allentown area, we are sending a raiding party in and draging Jerry Johnson out to a place and have some fun with him.  Be well and take care of your Family, I will keep in touch, Ed.

Ed & All;

With only one hip, I'll need some time to prepare for the "raiding party".Some Concertina and Claymores should do the trick. Please provide the date and time well in advance so I can prepare.

Regards to all,

Nicely and diplomatically put Dave.  Yes we are getting to be chronological challenged as the saying goes.  We have several classmates going through the "trials " of advanced age.  Many of us are using this forum to cheer them on, encourage them, push them.  And we're praying for them, calling them, visiting them, sending cards to them.  This is fabulous.  We've spread out since we graduated ( not just in distance, except for Dave Irons and Col. Bill).  There are probably others who are having difficulties right now that we don't even know about.

Let's take a moment to pray for each other,  and then pick one classmate who we haven't heard from and make an effort to reach out to them and see how they are doing.

We are a " Band of Brothers" from THE BEST CLASS "  ORAH!!!

You're right, At Jimmy's there were Classmates we had not seen for 51 years.  Some of them brought pictures which we have not seen sice the Graduation of the Class of 66.  This is all about reaching out to those we have not seen;  Dave I talked to Rich Perry a few months ago, I'm going to try to send you a picture of you whern you were a Rook!  This is all because Joe Garcia sent it to me.  We are all in the position to call Classmates and just shoot the Bull for 5 or 10 minutes or just to say was thinking about you and thought I give you a call.  Most of us are on a cell deal that will allow you to call the west coast and in between.  Ed Carpenter and Jay Repetto have made it easy, just look up on your Classmates Rooster and make the call when you finished see how you feel.

Jerry when we are coming we will make sure you are ready, hopefully with a new Hip.  But the sneaky guys you know already know we are going to do this and no one is talking!  I think our intel is better than yours, in fact I'm betting on it.  Jerry just keep getting well, we are all with you on that1  Be well old friend, take care of your Family and yourself.  Ed.

I just received word from our "ACE" Class of 66 Reporter Ed Farrel, that John Lynch had his scheduled open heart surgery this morning at 06:30.  He was out of surgery by 14:30 and asking for wine.  So I guess he's doing okay.  He should be home sometime next week. Prayers for continued swift and complete recovery.

John is doing fine, but we have other classmates who need our prayers and thoughts, so keep them coming!!  They work!!!

Thanks Ed for the good update!

Ed and Clark:    Thanks for passing on the news about John...   He surely will be in my prayers!

Just got word from one of our special agents, John had visitors who showed up with a bottle of wine to see to his every need.  It has been said that the couple responsible are well known in the Cape Cod Area!  There has been a reward posted for any additional information, we have asked a Classmates and his wife to be on the look out and keep thier ears to the ground, "sorta speak", so we may ID the couple.  John and Linda are doing well, so keep those prayers and good wishes coming.  We hope John will be coming Home in the next 7 days or so, we'll keep you posted.

If any of you get a chance to give Gerry Johnson a call it would be appreciated!  Hopefully Gerry will get some well deserved answers to solving the infection and a great bit of news regarding a replacement program in the immediate future.

All of you be well and take care of each other, going to get ready for the Fall and some get-to-gether's.  Hope to see you at the next Lunch we set up.

Uncle Eddie, you always give good advice!  I have it on good authority that the last name of the couple who visited John and Linda is "SMITH."

Kevin,

Agent Smith told me it was someone named JONES!  This undercover business can be so unreliable?  We are just going to have to hold out until we get a better lead on this, sorry about all the confussion.  Hope this note finds you both well!

I'm sure you heard; Lynch was asked to leave the Hospital Today!  So his wife (The poor soul) had to pack him up and is taking him back to Pennsylvania, heard she was leaving Wednesday AM.  Hope she has a Nurse's hat she will need it!  Best advise I could give; If he becomes a problem, hit him with the bed pan!

Well I will have to leave you at this point, someone is coming with my "Adult Beverage", with that SALUTE!

Hey Guys, John Lynch called me this morning, he sounds terrific.  Not back to 100% yet, but mending fast.  Can't keep a classmat down for long.  Who's the best class "CLASS OF 66".  I know John has felt the love and concern of all of us thru his ordeal, and I want to add my thanks too.  Your prayers, cards, calls, visits and thoughts really make a difference.  Now we have to focus on his recovery.  John's wine consumption is increasing daily and he's getting ornery so prayers for his wife are also needed.

God Bless you all!!

Col. Bill, Ed Farrell, Ed Carpenter, Hal Marshall, Thanks for the birthday wishes - you guys are certainly on time as there are a few days yet till I am 73.  Also thanks to all the classmates that I was close with at PMC.  We have a special place in each-others lives.

Pat and I put our Victorian farm house in Bath on the market about a month ago, and we are moving about 20 miles from Bath, NY to Painted Post, NY in October.  Downsizing to a normal 3 bedroom house and a normal easily mowed 1/3 acre yard.

We have an interested buyer and should know in two weeks if the deal will go through.  Then our focus will turn to our 5 acre agricultural lot 17 miles east of Punta Gorda, Florida where we have started work on building a "farm office" to "work at" a few months a year.  The mold was set for most of us by the time we were cadets at PMC which makes it especially rewarding when we get together on this website or in person ... re-establish that link with one another and reflect on the unique personalities that we were and still are.

Col Bill, Jay Repetto and all the others who live in Florida - evacuate if so advised.  I stayed through the last two hurricanes that had a major impact at my fathers house in Umatilla which is safely inland.  A few days after the last hurricane had passed, we drove to Daytona Beach.  The place was a wreck, all the sand was washed away leaving 2 to 3 foot sized stones and rip rap everywhere. (I had always wondered what was under the sand)  Each street that led to the beach ended with a 3 to 5 foot deep dropoff. On the way to Daytona, near the Ocala State Forest we passed a large oak tree with a full sized Jeep stuck in the branches about 30 feet up.

Best regards to all,     Henry Faryna

Hi All: Ed Carpenter has been in a motorcycle accident and is hospitalized in the Atlantic City Medical center having been flown there by air ambulance from just outside of Cape May. This accident happened on Sunday 9/10 around 2PM somewhere north of Cape May, NJ . I spoke to Ed last evening. He doesn't remember the accident , thank God. He has lost his left foot, has a fractured left femur and some "loose" vertebre. He is schedued for surgery today to place rods in his spine and tomorrow[ Wednesday] to repair his femur. He was in good spirits considering his injuries and was wondering if he would be able to get another bike!! He's a tough bugger, as we know, and is working to remain positive. He said " i'm alive and I will stay alive." He has asked if we all could hold off on calling him as it is very difficult for him to hold the phone and talk right now. I will promise to keep you all informed about his progress.  Let's all pray for his full recovery.

Jim,

Close by, Ed is under going more surgery today on the bottom of the left leg, in preparation for a future prosaic ankle and foot.  From what I was told a rod is being inserted for the future repair.  Have been in touch with many of our Classmates, will make an effort to get down to see him the end of the week ,when he is out of the surgeries.  Have a long list of our Brothers who have sent well wishes and prayers to him and I'll make sure I deliver that to him.  If you should get an opportunity, please touch base with our Classmates who have gone through the Hurricanes, some encouragement and a word of support will go a long way!  In some cases they don't know what they will find when they return Home?

To all of you, I will keep you in my daily thoughts and Prayers!  Be well and take care of yourselves and your Family.  Ed

Sorry to learn of Ed's accident and injuries.   He surely is in my thoughts and prayers for successful surgeries and recovery as quickly as possible.   As we know, it is tough to keep a good guy down!   Ed Farrell:  Please add my name to your list of those who are thinking of and pulling for Ed.

Update on Ed Carpenter:Ed had surgery yesterday[ 9/12] to place two rods into his back to stabilize 4 displaced vertabrae. Today he had surgery to place rods in his left femur  which had broken into 4 pieces. Also the doctors were preparing his lower left leg to receive a prosthetic foot. His left foot had to be amputated above the ankle. I understand Tuesday's back surgery went well and I will get an update on the success of today's femur surgery tomorrow and pass it on to you all. Ed's spirits are high and his attitude is that whatever needs doing to just get on with it. Calls are still difficult for Ed but if you wish to send a card he can receive them at the hospital at the following address: Edwin S. Carpenter, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, 1925 Pacific Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401 With Regards, Jim
