Gerald F. Jr. Johnson
I spoke with Ed yesterday, and he sounds great.
From Dr. Jerry:
Ablation for Atrial Flutter (I had one) is a short procedure since it is controlled by the left ventricle. The Ablation for Atrial Fibulation is much longer, and more complicated since the doctors have to penetrate the wall of the left ventricle to get to the right ventricle to do their electrical thing(s) with the heart muscle.
Ed told me that he didn't have either of the above procedures. They did a cardioversion which shocked his heart into a synus rythm.
Here's the rub. The heart is a muscle. Over time / old age, the heart muscle gets stiff. So, many of us are walking around with AFIB or AFLUTTER, and don't know it. You can live with it, but you need to be on a blood thinner in order to prevent strokes. Also, there is no guarantee that any of the procedures above present a permanent solution.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Christmas lunch.
Wishing everyone a blessed Christmas,
Jerry
