I used to drive a '71 VW Beetle. It was my favorite car. It got about 40 mpg and ran like a scalded dog. I removed the back seat and installed a bed. I actually lived in it the summer before I went to college. I was feeling like a gypsy and I wanted to experience the life of a homeless person. I drove it into a tree one night after downing a pint of wild turkey at a karaoke party. The picture of the wreckage is in a folder labeled "my life so far" in my facebook profile. I look at those pictures and still wonder how I walked away from that. I had to be cut out, but I walked away from it. Hitler was an asshole no doubt, but the "Folks Wagon" was a good idea.

Where the heck is Brian Crenshaw? I have tried several numbers for him, but don't know if they are correct. Is he in Martial Arts? Someone that has stayed in the area must know.

I hope that someone does get in contact with Brian, he is one of two that I owe a 30 year old apology. This is a result of alcohol, imagine that me drinking alcohol then doing something stupid!

I have a funny story about Brian Crenshaw and Jeff ?Doyle.

In JR HIGH at Providence, Brian and Jeff was outside in the hall during class and they climbed up the wall and was peeping in the window at the class.

Unfortunately, Brian could be heard scrambling up the wall, his feet shuffling and the teacher heard him and they both ended up at the Office.

I saw Brian (a few years later) at my work. I was working in a hair salon. I recognized him immediately because he has very distinct eyes.

I reminded him of the story and he had amnesia about the event but said it sounded like him and Jeff.

It still makes me laugh to remember sitting in class and hearing Brians feet scrambling up the wall just outside the classroom!

Good Times! :0)

Its been 30 years, and I still don't know who was the sweetheart who put a red rose on my green 1968 Nova (or was it the candy apple red camaro) in the MHS parking lot? It sat on my windshield and we got an ice storm that aternoon which encased the rose into a perfect crystal case by the time I found it on my car.

Would the perpetrator please reveal themself? You never knew how much that act of kindness meant to me.

Karen

Wow - how neat to miss a week then see what's posted!!!

Ok - now, Chas, did you say you were class of 80 because I had a major crush on ( I'm blanking on the first name) last name Williams! Could we invite him? Max was away at FUMA and I was loyal but ...........! Dear Sharon will remember!

Anyway, everyone have a good one - especially our "Westies" (that'd be you Tricia!!!!) Oh, look I learned the face with nose :<) too cute!

Muffin
Was his first name Craig? From what I can remember, all the girls had it bad for him, including the "loyal" ones

Muffin Williamson (Wilson)

Eric, Got it! Craig!!! Yep, that would be the one!! Now, here's a hypothetical: was he attractive to the "loyals"? because we were loyal or if not loyal, would the attraction still be there? HMMMMMM............ Or,do I need A LIFE? or what???

Hey all! I have really enjoyed reading all the stories from school.I don't have too many stories to add but I do have some news the football players will probably be happy to hear! My daughter is at Monacan and she started behind the wheel this week and her instructor is someone a lot of you will remember.... Coach Swelnis!! He's retired now, playing lots of golf, and teaching behind the wheel!! He would love to get on our site and get in touch with everyone, I forwarded his info to Karen. He said the class of 1979 was one of the best years he ever coached. He has many fond memories of you all. He was very proud of all of you.

Karen, that was your car I put the roses on? Now I know why Julie never thanked me for them.

Class of 1980's reunion web site has Craig Williams as having passed away, No details though.

Coach Swelnis and behind the wheel brings up some memories too. My 1st day he had me drive to Dixie Sporting goods to pick up some football equipment. 2nd day he had us wash the "behind the wheel car" to teach my partner and me car maintenance. Third day he had me drive out to a golf course to "check" on something for golf team. I think he was setting up a tee time.

Wow Eric! You took Drivers Ed. and received lessons in multi tasking at the same time. I never got those extras from Al Weaver.

Mark, did you get attitude from Weaver? I had Weaver also for drivers ed. I remember Weaver slept most of the time. Who knows if the legend of Bryan Carr running into Powhite toll booth in a drivers ed car is for real?????

Mike Jarmon

Hey I had Weaver also. We were out in in the country somewhere he was asleep, as I started into a curve he woke up thinking I was running off the road and grabbed the wheel. I just let go and hit the brakes. I looked at him and said "Bad Dream ?". He smirked and said back to the school.

I also had Weaver for drivers ed. He had us drive him to an ice cream store (probably in Amelia) and then he would fall asleep while we drove back.

Thanks for remembering the Westies Muffin

When I took Drivers Ed, the instructor told me to pull up to the 7-11 and I got the brake and gas mixed up and ended up on the sidewalk about 4 inches from the glass door.

The instructor made me stay there while she went inside, probably to change her pants :), and people were laughing and pointing.

AHHHHH, the wonderful memories of high school. I am a very good driver. :)

Brian, I ran Track for Big Al, so I never got an attitude from him.

05/07/09 09:14 PM #240

Greg Revels

Yep Connie - Coach Weaver liked to stop at "Chucks" in Amelia and get a milkshake if I remember correctly. He also liked to keep his foot over that brake pedal in the passenger floor whenever I was driving....don't know why though.

To all my ClassMates,
Wish my team and I luck tomorrow, 5/9/09 as we hit the streets of Richmond for the Race for the Cure. My sister is a 14 year survivor of breast cancer, and I do this for her. Team 'Lend A Helping Handful' appreciates your support!

I'm not sure what you mean, Muffin. I was in the class of 1980 because I had to repeat the 8th grade. I struggled to make a comeback and after butting heads with the guidance dept. I went for a GED and beat everybody to graduation by three months. Victory is mine!

That being said would the rest of you PLEASE engage in conversation here so that I can snoop and ease drop on your lives. As you can see I am bored this morning. My son is off to take his AP chem exam. I have already packed my nephews lunch and laid out his clothes. Now I sit here and ramble on and on and on and on.
