Oh my, I have not looked at message board for a while. Yes, dress code - HA- who needs it.
Dawn and Ryne you guys are right.
Ryne- I always thought you were ultra preppy and fashion able. Then again I was in tee shirts, flannel shirts and jeans. What did I know.(that was actually a compliment)

Let's just bring to the reunion the good stuff and have a good time meeting and greeting old classmates and friends. I am looking forward to seeing people that I knew well and the classmates I spoke to in passing and never made the time to actually listen.

This is great. For a moment I thought I was the only one that thought suggested attire was a bogus idea. One of the opinions I posted was deleted. I'm glad we all seem to be on the same page now. I might wear that Spongebob tie after all. Don't worry Kim. I do not own a thong. I never have and We can just keep that story about the time I tried on Rebecca's our little secret. Oh crap. :0)> (Devilish Grin) Mr. Broadus's name is William. When I was in the first grade he was the principal at J.A. Chalkley. Invite anybody who is interested. I know a few people from the class of 80, and 81 who would like to attend. I don't have a problem with that. I think anybody who is willing to buy a ticket should be welcome. Any thoughts?

Bill Broadus, and Ms. Lewis. How about Sue Goldstein,Coch Rick and David George.

Brian Pennington

Oh, yeah Coach Swelnis.

Ha Coach George taught my kids!!!!!!!!!

Now we are having fun! Oh and I pulled that blazer out of the attic and it has matching pants! Oh Yea, can someone tell my what color shirt and shoes you wear with a florecent yellow, orange and lime green paisley suit?

07/21/09 11:34 AM #327

Peter Halle

Ryne,

Can't help with the shirt. The perfects shoes I still own. Might not be comfortable. But hey, if you're a fashion icon who cares.

Nike Vanquiers - circa 1978. My running spikes of choice the fall of 1978 and the spring of 1979.

Can someone tell me how to include a photo in this post? Is it possible?

Peter

HA, fashion icon you were and still are, Ryan. I am sure you will keep the image up! Kim, if he has white shoes he will need a white belt and who knows if they sell them anymore!

Charles Robertson

Ryne. With a combination of Yellow, Orange, and Lime Green, a Purple or possibly Lavender shirt is the only logical choice. Either that or no shirt at all. Just a thought. It's your call.

Ryne,

With that outfit I think the perfect shoes would be red, really big and floppy.

Kim/Dawn/ all, thanks for getting the info to Mr. B and Mrs Lewis - I can't remember Sue Goldstein's husband's name he was a teacher in Henrico and I think they lived over there. If no one can get in touch with her I will see if I have a number packed up in a box somewhere.

On the dress code, I don't care - someone just let us know what the final decision is.

Coach "Rick" aka Rick Richardson was a football coach during our time at MHS. He quit and went to work for "VEPCO" after we left. I think he taught algebra, not sure though.
another teacher came to mind "Rusty Gates" he was also a football coach. He is a local lawyer now, I think his real name is Ernest. I see him from time to time around Powhatan, if I see him I'll give him the heads up.

Lloyd Swelnis, I think he is still connected with the new MHS. He was the AD out there for a long time.

Where are the baby pictures? We need classmates to post baby pictures. I don't know how many we have received so far. Karen is in charge of that. If you want a chance at getting a free ticket or getting a refund on a purchased ticket, post your baby picture for the contest. Go to the home page for details. Please read ALL the information on the home page. There is a lot there, but it is very informative.

What the heck....I don't really care what you wear to the reunion... just BE THERE! :O)

Ha, good call about Rusty Gates. What Coach Rick and Coach Swelnis had first names other than Coach!!! NOT to worry I am just joking.

Charles - baby pic- I talked to my folks and they only supplied me with bath tub pictures.(they thought is was extremely funny but that is not happening). So I am lobbying for some more normal shots.

OH, Kim the cheerleader for Coach George is out of the picture. Last time I saw them when our kids were playing baseball against each other it was Barbra. Oh, well who knows about that - our sons are 25 now and that was like a long time ago and a couple of marriages for me anyway.

I want to remind you all to keep thinking about music. I am customizing some mix CDs so I wont have to spend much time working, but there is always room for more stuff. I can make copies for anyone who wants one for a keepsake. Please feel free to bring your own CDs. We can throw in whatever we want whenever we want to. I'll have my computer with the limewire so we can download anything on site. I'm sure Holiday Inn will have an unsecured wireless receiver. All the major hotels have them now. We are also looking for interesting stuff to give away for door prizes. All donations are welcome. Post them baby pics! Go ahead and post those bath tub shots Brian. Just crop the parts you don't want seen. ;-D

Hey Kim,

Glad you are enjoying the book! I am sure that I will find my man at some point but am having fun and enjoying life regardless.

I look forward to seeing you at the reunion!

Hey everybody. I had such a great day today I have to share. There is a National Park just below my house on Davis Bayou called Gulf Islands National Seashore Park. My son Philip is a member of their Jr Ranger program. They had a field trip today so I took a day off to hang out with the rangers. The trip was to one of the gulf coast barrier islands. The island we went to is called Ship Island. It is the location of a civil war fort called Fort Massachusettes. The island sits about 12 miles off the coast so we took a charter boat to get there. The trip was a little better than an hour. The fort and the island were like a scene from a post card, but the most entertaining event of the whole day was the dolphins that swam along beside the charter boat. They swam circles around the boat and at one point a school of about a half dozen were cruising along side looking up at us. I swear it looked like there were smiling at us. The show they put on was unreal. It was like they were trained. The truth is they could have been. When Hurricane Katrina flattened Gulfport, Mississippi in 2005 there was an aquarium that was completely destroyed. It was home to a number of trained dolphins. They had special tanks and for an admission fee the public could come in and swim with the dolphins. Who knows. They could have been our dolphins. I don't know if any of the trained dolphins were ever recovered. There were also sea turtles and other species of marine life that were washed out when the storm surge receded. The bottom line is it was a really great day. Take every opportunity to have a dolphin day. Time flies.

Hi Everyone,

I have been reading all the posts and have definately found many of them amusing. I wanted to let you know that I see Lloyd Swelnis from time to time. He still lives in Brandermill. I will give him a call and let him know about the site.

Hey Charles - the dolphins that escaped during Hurricane Katrina are now housed at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. I'm not sure if all of them are, but I know some of them are. There is a book about the dolphins and how they ended up at the Atlantis for sale at the Atlantis. My youngest son and his girlfriend swam with the dolphins while we were there during the summer of 2008.

I only wish I could tell more about this past weekend. There were so many stories going around. The coolest part was all of us bringing us up to date on our classmates' current situations/changes.

Its fun to learn what everyone has been doing since graduation and finding out what roads life has sent us down, isnt it?

08/29/09 04:56 PM #345

Charles Robertson

That is an interesting observation Tricia. Life seems to send us down the road. Barry Jones was right in saying "life seems to have it's own plan". I don't recall ever choosing any roads. I always seemed to roll on the one I was on. A lot of them were up hill all the way. At least I'm moving forward now. The pavement is smoother and I always seem to have plenty gas. (Comes with age) :-D

Okay everybody, crunch time for the main event has arrived. A head count needs to be given to the Holiday Inn Kroger so the food can be ordered. Now there seems to be a lot of procrastinators out there who say their going to attend, but haven’t committed by purchasing a ticket. This makes giving a head count very difficult. It would out right stink to have a bunch of walk-up door purchases and not enough food ordered to feed everyone. Help make this the best event possible and commit to your ticket.
