My kids complained about 6 minutes between classes in a one-story high school with 3,000 students.  Hah!  I told them, try only 4 minutes in a 3-1/2 story high school with 5,600 students!

(3-1/2 stories.  If I remember right the 4th story was just a 1/2 story with some bio labs.  And, wasn't the greenhouse even above those?)

When my father was at Lane in the 40's they had nearly 10,000 students and ran school in two shifts a day.  It was right after they moved to the "new" building at Addison & Western and had to acommodate "two schools" for 3 years until all the students from the "old Lane" graduated.  I can't imagine that!

Two things here -----

(1). Yes, Robert (Cole) - and don't forget too, you had to also strategize locker-stops into the four-minute time between at least some of your classes. Either that - or, carry all your books and work for your AM classes and, then, carry all your books and work for your PM classes ...; and,

(2). Regarding the (great) pics posted by Robert (Ciessau) -- Of course I recognize the class ring, but, the very first pic - of the button and clock-tower, I don't recognize that. At the risk of it being something I should know --- I'll ask anyway, what is that?

Robert Ciessau, my ring was stolen when our house was burglarized in 1979.  I really liked the ring. I do have all my yearbooks, cap, class pin, diploma, bicentennial ribbon, and even my course book!

What did the class pin look like?  I have a pendant from prom, but don't remember a class pin.  Please post a picture of it.

Greg Calvimontes, so wish you were able to come to the reunion but what you're doing instead sounds awesome. I didn't know that so many LTHS classmates took part in your wedding. Greg Z is attending the reunion, and do you remember I dated Jay Swann for a while?

Cynthia Sakoda - really happy to see that you're coming to reunion!!

Steve Yamasaki, I'm rather impressed you retired so young. Looking forward to seeing you and June.

Maria, I should have said senior pin.  Someone posted a photo of it on the previous forum page.

Greg,

That was very cool, having the fantastic four and some other Lane Alums at your wedding.

See you at the reunion.

The summer after we graduated I lost my ring, somewhere in the Chicago area.  It stayed lost through 5 years of college.  Figured it was gone forever.

Then, in June of 1981, after college graduation and the day before I was moving to New York, I got a phone call at my parents' home in Chicago.  It was LTHS calling.  Someone had found my ring laying in a parking lot in WISCONSIN!  It was another Lane grad so he knew how important the ring was.  He contacted the school and mailed it back to them.  They got my name (glad it was engraved on the inside!), looked me up and called the old phone number.  I picked up the ring that day and have held on to it ever since.  Called the man who found it and offered him a reward.  But, being another Lane grad he wouldn't accept it.  And, the ring was in perfect shape so it had been taken care of those 5 years.

I wish I knew where it had been during those 5 years.  Sort of a "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" journey!

My Class Ring had an amazing journey!

Robert Ciessau's 2-piece pin has intrigued us all and inspired the committee to include Show & Tell at the reunion party!  Classmates are welcome to bring their Lane Memorabilia to display at a communal table or share at their discretion.

I have one of those too, but mine is from 1974. Given to me by my boyfriend at the time. I have no idea how he got it. I never got one from 1976.

Robert Cole, great story about your class ring! I have mine, don't know if it fits - I guess I should try it on.

Cathy Vercillo (Sanders)

I was on the Pin and Ring committee. When we were designing our pin for the class on 1976, I brought my brother's pin in from the class of 1974 to use as a model. Unfortunately my brother's pin disappeared.  So Janet, your pin and the pin from our class are very similar.

Congratulations Cathy Vercillo!  You are the 76th person to RSVP for the reunion of the Class of '76!

Just a 'heads-up' - whether you are already a fan of the show, or, just to be proud about it, tonight (Wed. Sept. 14th) is the Season 6 premeire of American Horror Story ('AHS')on FX (10p/ 9c). The cinematographer (Director of Photography/ Director) for AHS is our own Michael Goi ('76). If you haven't seen AHS (or, even if you have), this 3-minute video features Mike's narrative and a great capsule of his work from a previous season.

Wow! I see a lot of folks that I remember from those Lane Days. I will be bringing some Lane Stuff with me that I found, but in case people here are not going to be at the tour or dinner, I will post pictures here. For example, here is the 76 senior prom booklet we received:
