What an enjoyable time last night! Thank you committe for all the work you did to make it happen!

When i arrived, Marie gave me some photos that a classmate who attended the tour, had given to her to give to me. They were from the senior trip to Hawaii.  It made my day because I dont have any photos of that trip. A note to that classmate, please let me know who you are so I can thank you!

Had a great time last night. It was wonderful to see classmates after 40 years, even those I did not know! We all had experiences and memories to share, and it was just enjoyable listening to everyone's favorite stories.

Many thanks to the reunion committee for putting this all together and doing a wonderful job.

Thanks to the entire Reunion Committee for an awesome experience. Really glad Michelle got her tiara! See you all next time. Hope to connect with many of you via Facebook or LinkedIn so the miles won't matter.

It was great to see everyone at the school yesterday and the dinner last night. I still can't believe forty

years has passed. Thank you to the planning committee and the member at Ridgemoor Country Club.

It was a wonderful time! I can't wait for the next one!

Thank you again!

Arnie & Georgette, (and anyone else planning to be in AZ in October), if you haven't had enough Lane Tech, there's a contingency of alums who plan to meet up next month...  classes1956 through 1985.

Local alums who just didn't get enough Lane Tech this weekend... there is a 4k fun run and walk at Horner Park this Wedensday at 5:30 followed by an after party at Celtic Crown to benefit the boys and girls cross country teams.

Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this 40th a great time. It was good to see classmates after 40 years. The venue and food were fantastic!!! I still do not miss those cookies......

Thanks to the 40th Class Reunion Committee for a great time on Saturday-- and to all who came out to the reunion.  It was wonderful to see some old dear friends and catch up a bit!  I know how much work organizing that type of gathering can be and all the special touches---the hallway pass, the memorabilia, the slideshow-- all of it was very special and brought back some fond memories of Lane Tech!  It was well worth the trip back to Chicago from Pennsylvania. (Wish I could have stayed longer and done the school tour and the football game.)

Regarding Q19 from the list of questions... graduation was on Tuesday, June 1 (dont know the exact time). I remember as I had to skip the graduation ceremony to go to the Paul McCartney and Wings concert at the Stadium.

Peter, did you go with John Zupko? He said he was there that night too! Was it Bob Cole - someone brought the program (yes graduation was June 1, 1976) for one of the memorabilia tables at dinner.

Cindy Sakoda-Alcott and Mr. Monteleone are interested in getting a group of print shop alums together.  If you still dream about setting type and can smell ink when you close your eyes and think back to those days of cranking out the Warrior, Tech Prep and Arrowhead... please let us know that you're interested by responding and we'll let you know how to get in touch with Cindy.

WOW!

I will sum up my experience at the school tour and the reunion dinner with these words:

"FRIKKIN AWESOME!" (or you can insert your own "colorful metaphor" if you so choose)

First of all I would like to give a big "SHOUT OUT and PROPS" to Michelle, Andrea, Marie, Andrew, Monica, Stoyan, and any others who sacrificed their "Blood, Sweat and Tears" to make this event such a pleasure to attend. I will be looking forward to future events.

So........now that I have had a chance to absorb and ponder (as I assume the pondering pose of June on page 5 in the 76 yearbook) the events of Saturday......:

It was so great to re-connect with and also make new connections with my fellow 76'ers, spouses, other alums and teachers there. I wish we had more time as there were folks there I did not get a chance to meet and engage with. But I am hoping we will have chances in the future to do so. I am good with future invites and meets, just throw me a message. I am usually around the Chicagoland area on most weekends.

I can say that I truly enjoyed everybody I had a chance to engage with and I found not only Lane connections, but folks I went to college with and folks who worked at places I worked at. I will try to thank everybody I had a chance to talk with on Saturday individually. Sooooo mannnyyyy........

P.S. - I got some good follow-up stories and hopefully some entertaining observations that I will post in the future.

To mirror Ken's post, it was a fantastic night! Thanks to everyone who set the reunion up. All your efforts are truly appreciated. It's a great deal of work but it came together flawlessly.

I really don't have words to put to my thoughts, so many memories of the four years we shared the halls, classes, ups and downs. Lane Tech was our common bond and still has a strong influence on us forty years later. Glad we could all meet again and celebrate being Lane alumni!

Just want to thank everybody who worked so hard to put this event together. The school tour was great as it brought back a lot of great memories when I roamed with halls with old friends. I was not able to attend the dinner but I understand it was a fun time. Thanks again to the group that put in the time and sweat to pull the event together.

I keep my Wood Shop Indian Head and Lane Tech Foundry project on a wall under my covered patio out back. I walked into a printing business in Rolling Meadows one day and saw an indian head on the wall. Sure enough the owner went to Lane.

Thank you to everyone who weighed in on our graduation date of June 1st.  Now did anyone know who played our Indian mascot? And how about the other school store that wasn't McGovern's????  Anyone?  Bueller?

Alice Uchida (Spaulding)

I think the other store was Riese or Reese...? I remember buying a lot of Rapidograph pens there.

"I'm not in love...so don't forget it...It's just a silly phase I'm going through... And just because...I called you up...Don't get me wrong...Don't think you got it made......I'm not in love, no, no......."

How many of you had your first heartbreak while at Lane?  I did. And she was a Lane student also.

When I heard the above song at the reunion dinner, it reminded me of my first heartbreak and the song was one of several that stuck with me during that time.

It was also the first time (but not the last time) I heard the term:

"You are a nice guy....but I only like you as a friend"!

OW!

But it didn't quite go like that.....it was worse......here is the story:

I liked some girls while I was at Lane, some I had crushes on, but I was pretty shy in the way where I would not let them know. But I would joke with them and hang out with them as friends. So there was one among a group I hung out with that would ride back on the bus I went home on. So we started to hang out together on the bus after school and we were hitting it off really well. So one Friday, we decided to get off the bus together before our stops and hang out and we had a great time together, holding hands, then snuggling on the bus going back home. Since my stop was before hers, she hugged me and she kissed me before I left the bus.

Well, all weekend I was on cloud nine. I was IN LOVE and had a girlfriend. Then Monday came.

So on Monday, things changed.......she was distant.....I was getting the cold shoulder......she was avoiding me during lunch.....etc. So, in essence, I was getting "Ghosted - 70's style"

The next day at lunch, she was with a few of her girlfriends and I went to sit by her....she gets up and walks away. I start to get up to follow her, but one of her girlfriends stops me and says to me:

"She thinks you are a nice guy, but she only likes you as a friend"

DOUBLE OW!!

That was my first heartbreak and it took me awhile to get over it. I was such a mess during that time too. I found out sometime later that I was a "rebound" guy and her heart was still with her previous guy (not a guy from Lane, a guy that lived in her neighborhood).

Oh no! Not the "F word"!!

My first steady girl was at Lane, too. Lasted a while. Then she dumped me for a senior. Didn't work the way she expected, though. He and I were friends so we "compared notes". Remained friends with her, though. But, I remember my first broken heart. Lasted a few fays. Then... move on!

The odds may have been 10 to 1, but the girls at Lane were the best anywhere!

The name of the individual who was the Indian Mascot and rode the horse was Bob Vitacco.  I should know, he's my uncle.
