Chula Vista Senior High School
Class Of 1964

Personal Note to All Classmates:  Your Web Administrator out of country from March 29-April 30.  I will try to keep up with emails, texts, etc. while away.  If there is any thing that needs to be posted ASAP then contact Jacquie Connoley Hood.  She monitors the emails frequently and is willing to help if needed. I do apologize for a lack of new items, photos, things of interest or conflict but we welcomed identical twin granddaughters last March and life has just begun to return to normal. Three babies under 20 months of age will take many years off-factor in an ill new mother, preemies with their special needs, a cross country move from MD to San Diego (courtesy of US Navy)-and our ENTIRE family was involved in one way or another. But it's all good.  I will try to spend more time keeping our website relevant, interesting and hopefully, attracting more classmates to join up (please welcome Mike Anderson).  Best to All, Glenda

With a Heavy Heart I add two more names of our classmaates  to the In Memory Page:  Allan Ayotte and Gordon Nash.  The pages are available for memories, thoughts, etc.   These announcements do not get any easier.  If any one knows of other classmates please send an email using the CONTACT US button under Member Functions on the left hand side of this page.

Also, Roy Hahn has just come thru a very difficult time with double pneumonia.  His daughter, Marnie, an RN, took time off to be with her dad.  He is on the road to recovery.  I think Roy might appreciate hearing from friends.  You can either leave a public message on his Profile Page or send him a private message. also thru his Profile Page.  C'mon, a little Spartan love and caring!  Information provided by David Olmsted. I am sure David would also respond to any queries regarding Roy. Again, use David's Profile Page.

70th BIRTHDAY UPDATE

JACK BLAKELY and his committee are hard at work planning our 70th Birthday Party.  The celebration is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 19-September 25, 2016, with the party being held on Thursday, September 22nd.  If there is interest, plans may include a golf outing, mixer at LaBella and a tour of CVHS with dinner following at a local restaurant.

The committee would appreciate your comments and input.  Please contact Jack directly at blakelyj1@cox.net.

Additional information is on the 70th Birthday Party Page.  Those classmates who could not attend the 50th Reunion should really consider this get together.  Laid back in the true Southern California style that only San Diego really offers!  No formal, no dress ups, just fun, food, friendship.

October 5, 2015

WITH DEEPEST SADDNESS I notify my classmates that Joe Barrington passed away on October 3, 2015 at 8 p.m.  No funeral is planned but there will be a Celebration of Life with date, place and time to be anounced soon.

This information was sent to me by Eddy Neighbors as Sharon Barrington notifed Eddy about Joe.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and family.

The In Memory page for Joe will be up shortly.  Please leave any thoughts, happy stories, etc. on his Page.  One of the NICEST guys to ever walk the planet!

Pat Donohoe Update

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for October 10, 2015 at the Washington Park Arboretum Graham Center in Seattle commencing at 11:30 a.m.

September 21, 2015

WITH DEEPEST SADNESS I notify my classmates that Pat Donohoe passed away late last evening.  The message I received stated in part . . ." with her usual precision, focus, elegance and humor, Pat transcended from this life last evening.  She was peaceful and ready for a new adventure.  She lived  a full and passionate life and even more so in her last two years.  All of us as her friends were blessed to know her, dazzled by her intelligence and humbled by her kindness.  Keep her forever in your hearts and prayers."

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in early October in Seattle.  Condolences may be sent to her brother Mark, and his family, Naomi, Michael and Carolyn at 1012 Hewitt Dr., San Carlos, CA 94070

My heart is aching.  We were friends for 54 years. This world is not a better place with her star gone.  She was an amazing person.  Her In Memory Page will be up soon and Memories can be left.

September 18 Update

Today I was notified that Joe Barrington was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in early June.  His time frame is short.  Now is the time to send an email or contact Joe.

If you are on FaceBook than look at Joe's response to Virginia Payne regarding a prayer quilt she sent him.

TWO IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please read these following announcements and then follow your heart!

Our Senior Class President, Joe Barrington, was notified earlier this year that he has developed a difficult disease.  This has caused Joe to restrict his travel plans in his efforts to battle this insidious enemy.  Eddy Neighbors, Glen Bolander and Gary Cox have recently been to visit Joe.

Pat Sloan Rizer reports a very nice phone call with Joe recently.

Everyone who has visited with Joe is of the opinion he would very much like to receive cards, postcards, notes, or emails from his classmates.  Here is Joe's address:  Do this TOMORROW!    These notes, etc. bring more joy and warmth than you can imagine.  Let's send Joe some CVHS love. Let's blanket him with mail!

Second Announcement:

Pat Donohoe entered hospice care 10 days ago.  She is nearing the end of her two year battle with Pancreatic Cancer.  A few weeks ago, while travelling in Israel, tumors were found in her lungs.  She had been approved for a new experimental trial and her first appointment was for September 1.

On September 1st her health began to decline rapidly.  By September 4 or 5 it became clear she needed to consider final options.  Pat entered hospice in her own home managed by a team of three of her long-time dear friends, all who live locally.  I know these friends and they are great about keeping in touch with me (Glenda).  They are all professional women or men and delightful people. Pat is being cared for by folks who love her and bring heart and warmth with them.

All mail is read to Pat promptly and displayed in her room.   She receives great pleasure from hearing from friends and I know she would very much like to hear from her high school friends.  Let's inundate her with mail. Let's blanket Pat with CVHS love.  Her transition will be soon, perhaps a week to 10 days.  Mail cards TOMORROW, please!  (to those who have asked: phone calls are not possible with Pat as she is resting a lot and doesn't want to be disturbed)

Her address:

Ms. Pat Donohoe

2341 42nd Ave E

Seattle, WA  98112

email: pat.donohoe@comcast.com

Any questions about these announcements (or anything) please feel free to email me by clicking on the "Contact Us"  on the lefthand side of your screen. If I can answer your questions I will.  If you have announcements you would like on the website send me the details.

Best to everyone,  Glenda

Please check out the In Memory Page.  Ray Matela has been added.  There are several Memory Comments.  Feel Free to add yours.  They will be shared with his widow, Jann.  She told me their 30th wedding anniversay was Jan 14, 2015 and Ray was determined to live to celebrate it with her.  He did and lived an additional 10 days.  She also said he followed our Reunion on our web site and was "with us in spirit".  He was not able to travel for the last 3 years due to his illness.  Ray also appreciated all emails he received from classmates prior to his death.  It meant a lot to him that he was remembered.

There is also an In Memory Comment posted to John Pike's Memory Page

Where does the time go?  We have some new members.  Take a look at the Classmate Profiles page to see who has joined recently.

I am still actively looking for Missing Members or trying to get classmates to respond to my emails.  Not all "missing" classmates are really missing. . .they just will NOT join this site.  Ahem. . .Ms.  C.A.F. for one.  Mr. B.E. for another.  Do I really have to jump in my truck and show up on your door step?  kissangrycrying

October 10, 2014

To all classmates:  this web site will remain open and functioning for at least the next 3 years.  I have no intention of shutting it down until after our 70th birthday party.  Who knows?  It may stay up and running as long as classmates are using it.  This is a great site to reconnect, share stories, find lost friends from school.  Please continue to use this site and check in often.  I will try to keep it interesting and current.kiss

October 10, 2014

2/22/14  Jacquie just informed me that Kay Barnier has passed away.  We are attempting to find out more.  Please leave her a message/memory on her In Memory Page.

Following a comment I received recently regarding a conversation as to why classmates are reluctant to sign on to our web site.

"We all have our own memories from high school and they are what they are. I'm sure for some the times were more difficult than for others. It wasn't an easy time for me either but I made the best of it. Reunion's are a very good way to reconnect with old friends but I know a lot of people don't attend for a variety of reasons. But I love what this site provides...an opportunity for those that do want to reconnect"

Anyone have photographs of the elementary

school they attended?  Send them to me

and I will post them!
