12/25/2013  Darla Poiron said she had been roommates with Pam in the 1980's.  She said Pam did governmment contract work.  She had been married but was separated from her husband when she suffered a brain anyerism.  She went to Kansas to stay with her sisteer, Barbie, with whom she was quite close.

Pam was a sweet girl.  We were in "X" classes together our Soph year.  Unlike my sisters, I didn't work very hard at my studies and so they took me out of the X Class program.  Pam was very nice and kind to me thinking my feelings were hurt, but I really didn't care that much.  I always appreciated her compassion.

Pam was very intelligent, but kind of quiet.  Saw her at the 1984 reunion and found out that she worked with computer programs that supported HQ Strategic Air Command - that is where I was stationed at the time.  If you think of how difficult it was to operate and program computers in 1984, that will tell you how smart Pam was.

Pam had a younger sister, Barbara, who was a year or two behind us.  I remember hearing of Pam's illness shortly before she died.  She had some type of cancer or some other degenerative disease, like MS maybe.  She had already been divorced when she took ill.  She was laid up with her illness and Barbara put out a call for help for Pam to make her last days more comfortable.  Seems to me this call for help was done through the previous class web site that we had.

I rarely cry, but I shed some tears when I heard of Pam's passing.  A truly sweet and nice lady.  I miss her.

At our 1984 reunion I sat next to Pam during dinner.  She was always quiet but had a sharp sense of humor.  I didn't know she worded on the strategic command (per Jim's comment) but she did excitedly confide she had been working on a new language for computers with several team members.  She said it was in the process of being put in place where she "worked".  She didn't mention where and I didn't ask.  However,  I recall she was so happy about the program being successful.  She did say it would keep her financially secure.

All of my images of Pam in junior high and senior high are of a girl who readily shared her smiles.  She was fun to be around.  We had P.E. together several times -including the hated early morning swim class. One time she tried to braid my hair when it was wet-that was a disaster!

Another bright star gone too soon.broken heart
