Michael J. German died peacefully in his Clairmont home on October 3, 2006. Michael is survived by; his wife Barbara, his brother George, sons John and Glen, daughter Kimberly, and granddaughter Chloe.
Michael truly believed in the spirit of life and friendship, living each moment to the fullest. Michael was a true sports enthusiast in both mind and spirit throughout his life. His early years were filled with baseball and surfing. He later developed a huge passion for golf, which led him to positions within the Chula Vista Mens Club. Snow skiing held a lifelong dedication; this of course led Michael to high level positions within the Far West Ski Associations and many other ski organizations with which he was affiliated.
Michael always had a kind word and smile for everyone. He touched many a heart of both men and women, with his friendship style. All persons he came in contact with loved him dearly. He always seemed to be part of every group picture, solicited or otherwise. His zest for living was an inspiration to all who knew him. Miachael's commitment to friendships and a well lived active life, will serve as his legacy to us all all. Michael's travel exploits take a 2nd to no one. He has skied on hundreds of mountains and played golf courses throughout the USA.
Michael's true loves in life were his family, friends and neighbors. His entire family and large cadre of friends can rejoice in the knowledge that Michael is still with us in spirit. Mike will live with us all as we go on to enjoy the things that he loved, with a place in our hearts for the loss of someone so special.
We thank you for the many ways you are expressing your love and respect for Michael. Your encouragement during our time of bereavement and your kind actions honor the memory of our husband, father, and frandfather. Michael taught us in his daily actions the meaning of love.
A celebration of Michael's life was held at St. John of the Cross Church, Lemon Grove.
Mike German..........We knew each other since little league baseball in 1958. Our parents were friends with each other..
Later in life, Mike and I both worked as Navy Civilians, starting as Apprentices, at North Island on Coronado. Our friendship stayed close till his passing.
Mike's personality was a gift to all that knew him. He truly enjoyed his days and friendships at Chula High. One thing I still remember is that he got an award for not missing a day of high school...........Back then, it was hard for us that knew him to believe but looking back on it now and knowing Mike, it wasn't much of a surprise. Was it!!
Mike was there everyday sharing his smile and cheery attitude with all of us...........Mike was Spartan Spirit.
