Albert passed away in 2007 from cancer. His family sent a letter with the following information.
Al worked with his brother as a long-haul trucker. He had moved to Oregon from Alabama. He planned to buy property after retirement and keep horses and dogs.
Albert was in North Carolina when he began to not feel well. At the hospital a tumor was discovered on his heart. He returned to Oregon with plans to take a cruise with his family to Alaska. Alas, it was not to be. The cancer was very agressive and he quickly became very ill. He had time to see his family and get his affairs in order.
"He was the absolute best and was loved so much. We miss him terribly but he left this world a better place and we are better people because of his presence."
Karyn Godwin, his sister-in-law, stated she graduated in 1965 in a class of 650 students! They try to have a reunion every year in order to stay close. She says "We have found that this point in our lives we really need to appreciate our loved ones and friends because who knows what tomorrow will bring. Life is short and we need to make it all count."
