Update February 2022: This year I've added one institution to my Lifelong Learning classes, and am working intensely on my prospective book, Why American Slavery persisted, which takes on the paradox of our leadership against slavery in the early days, vs. the resulting need for a Civil War. Last year's highlight was my husband's and my trip to Italy, where we stayed near Lago del Garda and did great sight-seeing, as well as celebrating our son's 50th birthday. Grandson is in music school, and a real joy. See Italy photos in gallery. And feel free to get in touch: nancyspannaus@comcast.net

Having published the book Hamilton Versus Wall Street: The Core Principles of the American System of Economics in February 2019, I'm pursuing events and sales. Am now an adjunct professor at 3 schools teaching off the book. Also blog regularly at americansystemnow.com. Very happily busy.

politics, family, history--it's been a wild ride, but lots of fun and educational. Running for office against Ollie North was particularly enjoyable, as he was knocked out.

slowed down a bit with health problems now, but I expect that to be temporary and keep up work on American history, and get in some travel.

So sad to hear of Gwyn's death from that awful disease. In her memory, I am printing three pictures from the period I knew her best -- the first, when we were 3 years old and my father was temporarily in Cincinnati going to graduate school. She is the one on the right. The second, with the two small children, when she went on a trip with my family to Vancouver, B.C. in the summer of 1957. And the third, from who knows when, but we were very young. I think there's a reunion picture from 10 to 15 years ago somewhere, but Mark might find that more easily. That was the last time I saw her. May she rest in peace. With fond thoughts, Nancy

As it's almost my birthday, I thought I'd update all of you who scan these pages. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in June -- angiosarcoma -- and am undergoing chemo again. I'm making progress, and am able to keep up my activities: book events, food pantry, history lectures, etc. With great support from my husband, son, and friends, my spirits are good, and I'm determined to live a productive life as long as I can. Best wishes to all my high school friends and companions in this holiday season. And good health! Nancy

In response to the request for an update, here goes. My husband and I are doing well, extremely busy with history, local and national. I'm working on a new book, Why American Slavery Persisted. About to teach classes at three college/universities in the fall, and hopefully get to Italy for our son's 50th birthday. Wishing everyone the best. Invite you to see my blog, americansystemnow.com. The photos are from a short trip to Massanutten, Va. resort with friends this June.

With the country agonizing over how we have come to such disarray, I'm hoping more will take the opportunity to read my book, Hamilton Versus Wall Street: The Core Principles of the American System. You can find it on Amazon, my publisher iuniverse, or from me.

Hello, all. Checking in to share the good news that I just published my second book (the first was back in the 1990s) entitled Hamilton Versus Wall Street: The Core Principles of the American System of Economics. It's available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, and iUniverse (my self-publishing publisher) in all forms. I was very pleased to get a positive comment (on the back) from an established Hamilton scholar, and I'm hoping for some extensive circulation. Take a look. Otherwise, our trip to Greece went wonderfully (although too short), and we're about to take off for Italy to see family in April. Our health is holding up, which is good--we think we still have a lot to do. Best to all, Nancy
