Until 2005, Lynn was an art educator for Newport-Mesa USD in Newport Beach, CA, first at the district level and later at a local high school. Welker taught both adults and teenage children while continuing to paint, show, and sell her work. She has received many awards from juried shows from local to international. Her paintings are included in private, public, and corporate collections across the country.

After receiving her BFA and BS in Education from UC's College of Design, Architecture, and Art (DAA), Lynn and her husband, John, left the wooded landscape of the Midwest behind. Settling in Southern California for John's professional golf career, brought many adventures. They even traveled on the PGA Tour in the '70s.

"Since retirement from education, my life has been dedicated to my art. My work is shown and represented at The Festival of Arts Laguna Beach, A Gallery Fine Art, Palm Desert, Gallery of Modern Masters, Sedona, and Sandstone Gallery, Laguna Beach."
