Hey Guys,
Don't mean to hijack this thread but I just saw in the paper that Jimmy Cruciani passed away yesterday. He joins Lysah Flatness, Ann Wood and Sam Russell as classmates who have passed on. There may be others, these are just the ones I know of. Randy Tetlock also passed away a while ago, he was in our class for a while but I don't think he graduated with us. Anyway did not mean to bring anyone down but I think we should remember these folks at the reunion.....Jer

This is really sad news. Jimmy was a great guy. Jerry thanks for letting us know. I didn't know about any of these classmates. Does anyone have any background information on any of these people that we could update the "In Memory" page?

02/13/09 02:55 PM #21

Jason Smith

hey everyone, I am working on the in memory page, I have to get some obits together and I may scan them and put them directly into it.... I am saddened by the news of Dom cruciani.... We do need as a whole group to talk about the reunion and when we would like it.. I think a general vote would be best, some said the weekend after thanksgiving, some said in august.... I am open to whatever, but I live in the area.... the out a towners need to put int their two cents worth.. ok all have a great weekend... happy valentines day... Jason

Thanks Jason for working on the memory page. I wish it was a task that didn't need to be done.

On a much lighter note.... Here is the feedback that I collected from the out-of-towners. There is not going to be a perfect date for everyone of course, but the out of towners that I was able to reach all agree that summer would be a better time than Thanksgiving. Here is their feedback. I will update this response as I hear from more people.

Responses:
1. I also would prefer to have the reunion over the summer...more to do outside in the warm weather. I just think that if it is planned for the summer a date needs to be set. My summer is pretty open, so any date would be good for me. If you guys need any help, please let me know. Looking forward to seeing everyone....Stephanie Helfant

2. I'd actually prefer Thanksgiving and the fall PA weather that I never get to see in CA. I won't be visiting there for any other reason so a "second" trip wouldn't be a conflict for me. I also think summer is too soon for me so I probably wouldn't be able to make a summer trip. Just my 2 cents, not speaking for the majority I'm sure - Liza Gazmen

3. I am unsure about the reunion but I know that I definitely will not be going if it is over Thanksgiving weekend..... Leslie Kellett

4. I’m not sure if I’m going to the reunion - Thanksgiving weekend would be tough. Let me know what everyone decides. – Stacy Payonk Grow

5. I definitely would not come in for the reunion if it is over Thanksgiving. I never want to miss Christmas and to come in for both Thanksgiving and Christmas is too much over such a short time frame.
Late August would be best for me - but I still would not commit and cannot commit for a few months. Everything depends on what happens in the job market and how things pan out for me when I get back to Bulgaria. August is usually a pretty slow time in Europe as well so it will probably be easier for me to get away. – Anne Griffin

6. I could do either (summer or Thanksgiving) probably. Summer I think would be more fun. Last reunion I think they did a family day at a park or something and then the reunion at night. Definitely wouldn’t' be able to do that in Nov. Late summer would be better than early summer for me, maybe August? Thanksgiving I usually go to my sisters in Chicago, but could swing the other way and head to PA instead. Hope lots of people will be able to make it. So, I'm pretty flexible and would vote late summer if possible. --Laura Samojlowicz

7. I think a T-Day reunion is a very bad idea. People have family commitments, the weather could be a factor and it's very expensive to travel that time of year. I am moving to Waverly in a matter of weeks so I won't be coming from out of town but still definitely vote for summer. I think it should be in June when we graduated. Alexis Phillips

8. I'm planning on attending, barring any work junk that may be happening. Put me down for whenever, I guess. You're right with Thanksgiving and all (not the best time), we are usually in Philly so for me it's not MUCH of a deal.. – Michael McNulty

well it looks like many more people could come in august rather than at thanksgiving, personally for me, either is good, Early August would be better, I won't have to worry about teaching. So you guys decide but we should get this going now.

Hey all! Some thoughts....

If we really wanted to do it at Glen Oak, Eric and I can help with that. What about Milestones? Especially in the summer, the patio would be great up there and the Class of '88 had a great time up there after the Inne at the abingtons (Mace was playing that night and we ended up seeing them ALL - Jason, you heard that story!).

Even better idea, lets get it catered and have it at my house. (Just kidding! - Wanted to see Eric's face drop when he reads this).

However, all kidding aside, Eric and I are both in town and I have no problems volunteering both of us to help out. Between Eric and I, we can get in touch with quite a few people.

I would think the summer might be better. I know Natalie (Muffie) would have a hard time coming in around the start of retail season. That weekend is her busy time.

We have recently started seeing some people who went to school with us, would have graduated in '89 with us but moved or went away to school. Thoughts on having those people at hte reunion? People like Elena Devenundin or Jon Stevens? Just curious on thoughts.

Jerry is right, at the reunion, we should do "something" in memory of classmates that have passed. I am not sure what, but give us time, we will think of something, we always do!

Jason, we can talk more this week if you are in, I am closing on Thursday night so I will be there ALL NIGHT!

Thanks all and let us know what we can do!

Tracy Michalski (Phillips)

Sally, I like both of those ideas, and thanks for offering Glen Oaks. Your house would be great too!! Would Mace want to play at his own reunion? That could be fun. Anyway, I am fine with Thanksgiving or summer, so majority can rule. I think we were just trying to mix it up because the last three were held in the summer, and attendance was OK, not great. As mentioned, we won't be able to please everyone, but we can only try. Either way, I am looking forward to seeing everyone!
Tammy, Sue, Jason, Jerry - Let's pick a date and then a place. What do you think of Sally's suggestions?
Tracy

I think personally that the summer would be better, but I will send a email to all of the people who will be involved in the reunion, I think Sally's idea of having it at the Milestone Ranch is a great idea. It is a nice place and Mace does play there I am sure he would play at his reunion no problem. Glen oakes sounds nice, hey we could even have a pig roast....opps no we can't sorry sally LOL.

Hi guys~I am local and willing/able to help in any capacity. Anytime is great for me...but I agree with Tracy, the 15 year turnout wasn't great and that was in the summer. Those that attended had a GREAT time so i hope we get a good response. LMK what you need me to do!!

I was thinking about the Scranton Canoe Club up @ Lake Winola as a possoblie place, but I do not know if you have to be a member to have an event there. Milestone's sounds fine to me. I do think we need to have some music there whether it's a DJ or a band. Either after Thanksgiving or summer is fine with me. I think we all need to get the word out and get more people to show up. I'm sure we all know people who, for whatever reason did not feel like attending the last time. We've got to get them to come this time. Are we going to do something earlier in the day like last time?...Jer

02/18/09 07:14 PM #29

Jason Smith

I think that the turn out wasn't so great because it wasn't put together until late. I think if we get it together by late April or May we should have a decent turn out and if it is in late August, then we should have a decent turnout and thanksgiving I don't know,. it is a catch 22...also does anyone have megan millets or jennifer matthews information I have Jen Paul's email and # and am going to call and see what I can do.

It is great to see so much interest in the reunion and so many people willing to help! Right now we need to get everyone to update their info on our class website. This is what takes up most of the planning time. I know many of you are on Facebook or similar websites. If you can direct everyone to this website, then we can do all emails and messages from here. For our 15th reunion, it took close to a year to find many people and we still couldn't find 26 classmates.
We can have the reunion at either time of the year but we are not going to be able to please everyone. Thanks for all of the suggestions for possible places to hold the reunion. If some of you want to pick one or two places to call and get info and prices that would be great. Just let us know who you are calling and what info you have obtained. I am a little concerned about Aug. because it seems like people would be on vacation or their kids would be going back to school in late aug. What do people coming in from out of town think when it would be best to have it during the summer as far as travel time? The committee has had the last 3 reunions over the 4th of July holiday to give travelers a long weekend.
I think it would be great if mace's band could play at the reunion! My husband still djs also. We could use him as backup if you want.

Hello all.

Few thoughts/things....

- Eric and I are in town. If we can help with anything, please let us know.

- If you are looking for a place to get together and "discuss" our place is available. We both would love to see everyone and you are welcome to use our place as "point".

- Perhaps getting together, grabbing a yearbook and figuring out who we all still have contact with would be a great place to start.

- I have nothing else to say but insist on putting 4 lines of text.

Take care all! Jerry and Jason know how to find me. If you need something, please let us know.

Hello class of '89! I am still in the area, so let me know what I can do to help with the reunion. Either summer or Nov. if good for me. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again. I think it will be fun now that we've been in touch with classmates again through facebook! I talked to someone from class of '88 who said their reunion was alot of fun! Hopefully we will get a good turn-out. I don't have a preference as to the place to have it. I'd be willing to make phone calls to different places to get info. if needed! Let me know! I am happy to see that our class has this website. Jerry Stiles.....thanks for letting me know about the site through facebook. I'll spread the word to people I've been in touch with as well!

OK I am back from vacation, and I am excited to get rolling with this. I like the idea of getting together at Sally's sometime soon. Maybe everyone could have information from respective sites mentioned in previous posts so we could make some decisions. There were several so that should leave us with good options. I am not of much help with the location as I do not live in town. However, I am quite willing to come up for a meeting. We can also nail down a date. And yes, we are never going to please everyone. I would love to have Mace and a DJ, because of course, we'd want Mace to relax some too.
Sally - if you are serious about hosting a meeting, drop a line with potential dates. I would prefer a weekend since I am out of town.
Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm! It is great to see our class so excited for our 20 year reunion! Wow, it cannot be that long!!

I am excited that there is so much interest in our reunion. I wish I were in town to help. Anything I can do otherwise - let me know.

Hope to see you all soon!

I heard from people who attended '88 reunion tht the foo at the Inn of the Abingtons was horrible. I attended a dinner at the Colonnade recently. The food was pretty good, but the venu did sem a bit small for 250 people. If you do choose the Colonnade, please put the meatballs on the menu - they were to die for!

03/14/09 12:54 PM #41

Yes I have heard about certain establishments food, we are still thinking about the dates and thinking where to have it.... maybe we will have an official reunion and an unofficial one as well.... we shall let everyone know.....

Hi all! Just checking in to see if the meeting is still planned for Sunday, March 28. I am working on my schedule to see if I can get up to the Summit for it.
Jason, what are the results from the survey?
Tracy

Hello everyone~
I heard the Colonnade is excellent as my parents just went to a function there and raved about it. Where ever it is my only hope is the we have it at a different place than the 15 year(Amici's) just to keep it interesting. It's great that we are starting to get everyone psyched about it!
