Ellen, thanks very much and a big tip of the hat to you (and others?) for setting this up. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall. Mike

Okay, I'll bite! Looking forward to the Reunion weekend - the events sound great. Shaw Park will be a blast from the past (double check the spelling of "DEPO") and the Boathouse is just a great place for a party!!! Looking forward to seeing if we recognize each other!

As for the forum topics, I don't want to stir up a debate, but it's definitely a chocolate chip pistachio concrete at Ted Drewes!

Molly,

I know you meant to say any flavor of Home Made Ice Cream at Serendipity! Owned by one of our own CHS Alumni (albeit class of '82) Beckie (Miller) Jacobs.

I had too much fun putting together the playlist. I really did enjoy all those depo's, homecoming dances, senior proms and cruises down Wydown with the car radio on. And guess what? The music of our generation didn't suck at all. What lovely lovely memories.

And btw, chocolate chocolate chip concrete at Ted Drewes. Hands down. And go Obama. Enuf said.

okay, i will jump in. I have to say I still miss Ted Drewe's but right in the middle of new york there is a shake shack that is owned by a St.Louis-an, Danny Meyers, and it serves custard just like Ted's. He even talks about Ted Drewe's as his inspiration.

Ellen, thanks so much for all your hard work.

Kate, that's a great tip -- what is the name of that shake place in NYC? I think I ducked out of St Louis before being fully aware of Ted Drewes, but have made the pilgrimage with family and friends on return visits. What a great place. As to the question of Steak 'n Shake vs. White Castle, no doubt Steak was the place to be, tied with the chilli dog at Carls. Nothing like two or three of those after cross country practice.

Ellen, the music is fantastic -- my son and his friends are into 70s music on vinyl and would say we grew up in a great time for music (Boogie Oogie Oogie notwithstanding).

The place is in Madison Square Park and it is acutally called the Shake Shack. Madison and 23rd.

I'm with Mike: I didn't become of age (regarding Ted Drewes, anyway. Ha!) until after I left St. L and only explored it on return visits. Don't think my cholesterol can handle it now. I still hold Velvet Freeze on the ice cream pedestal.

Hey, I've had folks asking about other class websites. The only ones I know about are for 1976: http://chs1976.orr and for 1979: http://www.chs1979.org.

If anyone knows of any other class websites, please post. It's WAY too much fun to poke around.

Glad you like the music! Any requests? cheesy or otherwise?

Thanks Kate -- my daughter is working in NYC this summer and I'll let her know about the Shake Shack's connection to St. Louis.

What fun to catch up on what we've all been doing the past 30 YEARS! I've especially appeciated it since I'll be out of town the weekend of the reunion. I know you all will have a great time.

Thanks, Ellen etal for the site.

Hey, I resemble that remark about getting kicked out of the library -- but I don't think I was a smart alec -- just a talkaholic. Not sure that much has changed! Looking forward to seeing everyone in September! Thanks, Ellen, for your hard work!

Hi, all! This is kinda fun--thanks Ellen and everybody else who had a hand!

Ellen has issued a personal challenge off-line to post a political opinion. Here goes. Three simple words:

O. Ba. Ma.

'Nuff said.

Oh. And one more thing:

Winnie the Pooh IS a Disney character.

(Sort of.)

Disney MADE the bear of very little brain fit into the Disney mold. They had to; we needed a float theme for junior (or was that senior?) year.

Hope you all are coming; I'm rather excited to see all the exchanges.

I remember a shaved ice place with mega huge snow cones with lots of syrup that we would frequent at times instead of Ted Drewes. It no longer exists, hasn't for quite a long time, and was behind a hospital or med center somewhere. Anyone remember that place besides me?

Hi Linda! I remember a shaved ice place on Big Bend between Clayton Rd. and Manchester? There's a great shaved ice shack in Kirkwood called Tropical Moose, that my kids absolutely loved. Anyone know if it's still there, at the Kirkwood Farmer's Market???

Linda-

I remember that sno-cone place! Wasn't it behind a hospital (??? St. Mary's??) on Clayton Rd? It was great.

I remember that place...and how the parking lot was so sticky from all that spilled syrup! What was that name...?
