Louie,

That is soooooo funny, I really laughed. It is not my grapefruit and oranges I am concerned about but thanks for the concern. It is my tootsies and grapenuts I am concerned about in this looooonnnnngggggg cold snap.

YYEEESSSS SSSaaannndddyyyy, it IS FAREEZING... I honestly had a light layer of ice on my windshield today!! First time in 23 years I needed a scraper. UNBELEIVABLE!!!

It is going down to 32 again tonight. Louie, it is no weather for the faint of heart or those who have strawberries, zuchini's, green beans, coconuts and other types of fruit!!

We have at least another week of this before it starts to warm up!! I know, I know...Cleveland has at least another 4 months of the cold and snow---Sorry, really!!

Weather report from NC:
This week, my husband and three boys took an Outer Banks rental in Rodanthe, NC in order to surf. They were prepared for the cold, but were amazed to see saltwater icicles...
I just killed all my houseplants by forgetting and leaving them outside.
You Floridians feed the rest of us. You need to warm up first!

Beth Nehamkin

Oh Terri, YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT!!

Anne, thanks for the 'warm' wishes for recovery. I heard on the news last night that Florida provides 75% of the nations veggies and fruit in winter!! Lots of frozen buds and plants...Watch out for rising prices!!

Louie,

Thanks for the warning....I think buttons and zippers are frozen to!!

Steven...Uhhhh, no thanks on the offer of a trade on the Beechwood house!!

By the way, even the snakes are out looking for the sun!1eeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Ok, my socks are wet today.

Rain, wind and more cold artic air. I can't believe it; tonight on the weather news it was said the wind chill on Sunday morning will make it feel like it is 15-20 degrees outside. That is 15-20 degrees, not 15-20 degrees cooler.

Steven, you still want a house in Florida this year?

Oh, and here is something interesting; there are a number of large Iguana's around. When it gets this cold, their bodies go into hibernation. So, if they are perched in a tree, they simply fall out of the trees and these are very large Iguana's!!

Snakes, Iguana's and ice oh my!!!!

HOLY SCHNIKEYS, I CAN'T FREAKING TAKE THIS COLD!

Terri, you have me laughing!! I am soooooo bundled up!!

I drive a vintage Bug. No heat in it.
I'm not lying when I say I wrapped myself in a blanket and drove!

And now they are predicting snow and sleet for my city?
I really hope I remember this moment in July.

01/08/10 08:49 PM #3294

Beth Nehamkin

That's it Terri...NEXT summer it will be sooooo hot!! LOL

I would LOVE to have a vintage bug, looked at a 1964 VW bug last summer...no air though!! How ironic is that??? It was TOTALLY redone and had a new motor to. Oh, and way too much money for me. What year is yours??

Also, how well I rem my bugs (2) without any heat and driving with a blanket over me... and so many other things missing. My first bug was a '68 cherry red. In winter the heat never came on and the inside windshield would ice over. There I was scraping it with my fingernails. Then in the same car, the driver's wiper stopped working (in winter of course) I got frostbite on my wrist from trying to keep a peephole open so I could see. Soooo many old bug stories!!

Sandy Beksa White has a nice blue bug that is only 10 years old but soooo sweet!!

It's a 1974 with the engine from my 1972. An Asian broadsided the '72 and totalled it. The engine was rebuilt and had less than 6000 miles on it so I kept the old one for some parts.

A guy down the hall in the hospital where I work has a '72 and he is the original owner.
I have yet to meet a man I can't talk cars with!

No A/C doesn't bother me but the lack of heat is a real problem!

Beth Nehamkin

Hmmmm, ask the kind man if he wants to sell. But, here is SW Florida, air is a must!!!

'74 still makes it more than a classic, it is an antique, 36 year old VW.,.very cool!!

Val Iberall (O'Connor)

Well...I am sitting here at my computer with my gloves on! And socks and everything else inbetween...It is FREEZING indoors, outside is beyond freezing. They said it is going down to 29 tonight!! I just brought some of my plants in, they are never going to make it otherwise. It rained all day on top of the freezing cold. What a yuck day! Stay warm everyone! Thinking about you guys up north.

Where my sister and my son are in Florida, it is going to 10 degrees with the wind chill.
People don't understand the houses aren't built for cold.
And then you factor in the dampness.

I actually got my ski long underwear out.

I'm sure you Florida and other southern folks are NOT enjoying this very cold snap. BUT take heart...it will pass there MUCH sooner than it will pass for those of us who live WELL above the Mason-Dixon line. We'll still have cold and snowy weather well into March.

That's why I try to head somewhere SOUTH during my April vacation. By then...I'm totally SICK of winter.

All my parts are frozen!!!!!

terri and beth

i also had a 74 red bug back in the days in the winter i had a heater that plugs into your cigarette lighter, looks like a hair dryer that is what i used to defrost the windshield and keep warm. and for the air the faster you go the more air comes into the car

I had a super beetle which would flood anytime I went though a car wash.....

Another VW story, my '68 bug NEVER started if it rained. I used to put a sheet, a plastic cover and another blanket over it in the hope it would keep the carborater dry. If not, I would have to spray some kind of canned air to try and dry it out. One day my brother was driving it and he stopped for a light, the car wheased and died at the corner of Warrensville and Chagrin. Never was the same. Needless to say, the salt on the road ate through the floor behind the drivers seat and the running boards fell off someplace unknown, one at a time. LOVED it!!

My second VW, a'70 had a gas heater which did not turn off in the summer. Melted my make-up, some frozen food on the floor and the skin on my ankles.

Great idea Louie, had I only known!!

My first car was a '70 bug...beige. I had it for four years, put 100,000 miles on it...then totaled it. I got more from the insurance than I PAID for it. All that's left of it is a great acrylic painting of it totaled that a friend gave me when I was in the hospital recuperating with a broken leg.

I loved that car...but it had no heat in the winter and no defrost. I carried a joint compound spreader with me at all times and used it to scrape the ICE off of the inside of the windows.

My next car was a Honda Accord...I felt like I had gone to heaven!!
