What else can you ask for?

Um....a frozen mudslide. No, I mean the kind in a glass with chocolate down the sides and whipped cream and a cherry.

Yeah, I love girly-girl fou-fou drinks.

I've tried not to rub it in when you all were talking about the freezing cold in the areas you live in. Here by the San Diego coast it was running in the high 60's and 70's at that time. However, the past couple of days even though it's not cold,it has been sooo rainy and windy. Yesterday by the coast we even had a tornado warning! I'm so glad I didn't know cuz I was driving around like nothing was going on! For us that's extreme!! I know it's the same for LA and we are expecting one more LARGER rain front even though So.CA isn't equipped for this and many people are flooded out of their homes. It's funny....here in San Diego they built a huge community (Mission Valley), even my favorite shopping center (Fashion Valley) next to a DRY river bed. So when we do have fast rains it always floods very deeply and swiftly and people actually die. What's up with that?

Joel, Dave, I'll be going up to LA this weekend to see Mum, Susan and hopefully my brother Gary (Simi Valley). If you have time, give me a call and we'll meet up.

Over the weekend, my computer would not turn on and WOW, was it ever maddening. The geek I bought it from has a store and it was closed on MKL day. So, on Tuesday I cancelled an appt and went right to his small store. Well, the computer turned right on and he could not find a thing wrong with it!!!@%#$A%&&%EWT@@#^&*(*&^%$#@!!!!

Now, back to business; Louie, my oranges did not freeze, they only got more juicy from the cold. Also, you are right..I clearly remember doing the slide and doughnuts on ice....fun sometimes in the bug!!

Terri, you are right....Florida is where I will stay to!! Over the years, roots go deeper and there is no arguing with the sun in winter. Now, the sun in summer can be a killer!!!

Clare, I wondered about the rain and how it effected you....glad you posted your note!!

Sandy, thanks for posting for me.

Terri Morris (Balchen)

Beth, the sun in Florida summers can be a killer but I have been known to fall asleep at the beach in 95 degree weather! Or is that pass out?

I love to go down to the beach at sunset and wait for the dark to roll in. Sometimes we see dolphins leaping out of the water.

01/22/10 07:38 PM #3346

Beth Nehamkin

Terri,

You are so right and I do think it is 'passing out' at the beach in summer. I especially enjoy the sweat rolling into my eyes. What fun!! I know here in SW Florida, by August, everyone is homicidal from the heat!!

HOWEVER..is there anything better than seeing those dolphins or maybe those tiny starfish that are on the beach every so often. There are so many other wonderful things about living this close to the water!! THIS is the best time of year, without doubt.

COME ON DOWN!!

01/22/10 10:56 PM #3347

Terri Morris (Balchen)

Oh yeah! We have a pool and I will 'pass out' or fall asleep and I wake up when I am drowning in sweat.
I love it.
I look at it like sweating out the toxins in a sauna.

And you forgot the little fiddler crabs....

My kids used to go out surfing all night long when a hurricane rolled through the Gulf.
You can't stop them from surfing at 2 AM...LOL

01/23/10 04:14 PM #3348

Beth Nehamkin

Oh yeah, those little crabs...I ended up with one in my pocket once thinking it was just a shell and a week later, there it was!!

The best for me is an evening when the weather is just right, the sun is pink and orange and that awesome tropical breeze is blowing! LOVE IT!! We better stop such talk so our friends in Cleveland don't end up hating us. Those Cleveland winters are long and cold!!

But the longer and colder they are the more incredible spring is! You gotta take the good with the bad no matter where you live.

Steven A. Fox

For those in the New York area.... This is my Nieces play!!!

The New York City premiere of Jamie M. Fox's MAZELTOV COCKTAIL, an explosive family comedy, will be presented for a limited, four-week engagement at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre (2162 Broadway @ West 76th ST) January 26-February 20. Maria Mileaf (A Body of Water and Lobster Alice) will direct the 90-minute dark comedy that is penned and performed by Fox and produced by Marilyn Ziering.

Serving up laughs with the absurdities we tell ourselves to get through the hard times, MAZELTOV COCKTAIL follows a Jewish woman as she juggles her job as a personal assistant, her cocaine addicted (and recently jailed) brother and the neurotic parents who spawned them. A veteran of the Comedy Central Stage and Second City, Jamie M. Fox stars in this solo dark comedy.

Developed at Comedy Central Stage, MAZELTOV COCKTAIL made its west coast premiere at the Coast Playhouse to sold out houses and rave reviews. Backstage proclaimed it "A Trip!" and the Jewish Journal roared "a whole new side of Jewish Living: the hysterically unusual side!" LA Weekly deemed Fox "an engaging personality." Demand has grown as it has toured across the country with sold out houses and now this "hilarious and thoughtful!" (Seattle Channel) "universal story" (Jewish.com) makes its New York debut.

The design team includes scenic designer Sandra Goldmark, costume designer Laurie Churba, lighting designer David Lander and sound designer Nick Borisjuk, with original music by Casey Geisen.
