Sandy,

I cannot believe it! You sold records at Woolworths?? I was over selling candy at the candy counter in the center of the store!! How funny is that, the job didn't last very long and I had to go the dentist. From there I worked at Miethers Ice Cream store. Does anyone rem that one?

It has been all downhill from there!! My best was wrapping meat at the Pick N Pay at Harvard and Lee between college semesters.. enough said!1

As for music......how funny is it to rem. Yanick!! Holy Crap we are old!!

Where are all of those nightmare teachers now??

OK...did any of you Severance workers eat lunch at Diamonds where *I* was waiting tables or working as a cashier? I spent summers during college doing that...and about 4 months between my college graduation in March 1973 and my first "real" job in September 1973.

04/10/09 07:21 PM #1069

Sandy Beksa (White)

Who could afford Diamonds for lunch A hoagie was only .69 cents . Beth how did I miss you at the candy place . You were right in front of me . I worked there a looooong time ! Do you remember Miss Timen . She did the firing and hiring . A whole bunch of kids worked there.I remember Meithers ice cream YUMMY ! I still eat ice -cream every nite . Who out there remembers being in Mr Yanick s music class when we got the word about President Kennedy? I remember a girl named Laura Andonion getting hysterical.

Scott Poffenberger (Poffenberger)

Beth...

Boy, do I ever remember Meithers'. I used to walk there from Idlewood Rd. (We lived there from 1953 until 1963)just for a cone of their pistachio. I still crave Ben & Jerry's pistachio as it's very similar.

BTW... has anyone seen the poster of "The Doors of Cleveland Heights"? It's sort of a copy of the famous Irish travel poster "the Doors of Dublin" that's seen in a lot of Irish bars.

I'm looking for a copy.

Hey, I was just thinking, I can add a category called single and looking onto the classmate network, besides looking for jobs and already established occupations. So, if you are single and seriously looking (not married looking to fool around), email me your name and city of residence and I'll get you on there. Who knows, maybe we can make a match out of class website heaven! As far as the Then and Now page, that page is not going to grow unless you update your profiles with recent photos or send me new reunion photos or recent photos of yourself.

04/11/09 04:28 PM #1073

Beth Nehamkin

Hi Scott,

Do you think maybe I scooped the ice cream into a cone for you? I actually do rem that flavor, very popular!! The store was there for a really long time. I left after it was sold to a couple of men when the Meithers retired.
It 'is' a small world. I walked to work from East Derbyshire!!

Shelly,No Diamonds for me either but I def remember exactly where it was at Severance. Like Sandy, I ate at the counter in the store as we got an employee discount, maybe 10%. Sandy, that made our lunch only cost about.63 cents. What a stretch that was earning, what? 1.75/hour??
Those were the days my friend!! Idon't rem Timon unless she was the lady who told me to quit snitching the Bridge Mix. LOL

Val,

WHAT an awesome 'Then and Now' link to our class. You go above and beyond making this a wonderful place to visit.

Thank you for all of your work!!

I have been teaching online in addition to my work in mental health. It is over next week and I can't wait to send you some photos!!

With the mention of Meither's I need to ask if anyone remembers the Cone Corner, that Marty Lewis and I owned, at Euclid Heights & Lee,the Summer between Junior and Senior year. We paid almost ALL the help, in their requested tender: Ice Cream.

Shelley Hornik (Lloyd)

I do remember the Cone Corner. I remember being very impressed that two classmates managed to run their own business during those two summers. I went there a bunch of times as best friend lived up the road. It was "sort of" on the way.

Jim -- I didn't remember the name of Cone Corner, but sure do remember you guys running it. Very impressive, and a fun place to spend time.
