I think it is great that the reunion committe has worked so hard to secure a Friday night activity as many of us had requested. But I think they should reconsider the mandatory packaging. I believe from the response that I have seen on this site that all of the events will be well attended. But, many of the people coming in from out of town have family and friends to see in such a short weeknd that are not 1969 alums. To box them in like this could have a detrimental effect on the outcome of the weekend, and that would be a shame as hard as the entire reunion committe has worked to make this a successful event.

I know that the Reunion Committee has spent countless hours putting all of this together...but,one thing that's not being discussed here is the expense. For many of us that are having some hard times (and I'm sure there are many)the reunion for one couple has become cost prohibitive. It would be nice to split up the days so you do have a choice. If I have to buy the pkg, I won't have the option of attending anything, in my current situation.

i think you are missing the point some classmates cannot make saturday night and to pay 100.00 or 200.00 for a friday night to have a drink with the in town or out of town classmates is a bit much. some of our classmates are not working or retired and some can not do saturday due to health. And about the 6-8 people on the forum they are the ones that are having fun and being silly. the rest of the classmates are sitting there reading and having a good time and some are disgusted that some people can have fun. gerald this is not to knock down anyone and no one can make everyone happy. go brotherhood

Heres my opinion...first of all its not "all or nothing" its Fri and Sat or Sat. Second, if you can afford Sat prices you can afford both. If you can't afford both then my suggestion would be to contact the people you really want to see and make plans on the side. Now I'm ducking so I don't get hit by flying objects.

We had a tour of the building during the day last time at the 30.... It was Free... I am hoping to get a reunion together of the kids from the E berkshire area and also one from the stage crew.. (not at the same time)
I am sure that other groups are planning other things too.... I am also on FACEBOOK.... but I will not post my daily actions there.... I would never wake up as it would be boring.....
remember that in 40 years from now.... most of us will be (should I say it...) no (but you all know it)
so enjoy life now and stop b*tching....

Amazing how many are taking offense of others stating opinions. Last time I checked, it was OK for us to have an opinion. That's what a forum is all about.
Bottom line, it's a costly weekend in troubled times. For those of you that don't have to give it a single thought, I envy you. 90 days ago my situation was different and it wouldn't have been an issue for me either. Things change quickly...don't forget that.

i guess i am the bad guy that I had the nerve to post all of your opinions to me.

This website has been an amazing experience for me and probably all of us . I have had contact with alot of great people that I barely knew in school . Because of this I have made a lot a new friends and have re-opened the doors to my old ones . We all know how difficult it is to make new friends and socialize with people at this age . I feel blest for having this experience . I am very grateful to Jim ,Sue, Norman and all the others that have worked so hard to make this all possible .
I can understand how difficult it must be trying to make 1,100 people all happy . I can't please all four people in my own family at the same time !
I have to say I don't like to see what is happening . We are reverting back to high school behavior blaming and critizing each other . Gerald if you have a problem with the 6 to 8 of us that talk on the forum then by all means join in or don't read it .You obviously read it because you commented on it . In some way it must be amusing to you too.
I say we all continue to voice our opinions and to enjoy the Forum but to really get back into behaving like the adults we have become .... As they say take what you want and leave the rest.

First of all, I want to thank the committee for doing all the work for us and doing a WONDERFUL job. You are not getting paid, and you are financially sticking your neck out so we can have a fun reunion. Your efforts are genuinely appreciated by me.
I will be flying from the west coast specifically for Sat and hope that all will be there Fri.for an extra $20.I would love to see my classmates twice! You all are the reason I'm flying in...to see your beautiful faces! I hope you all come both nights so my dream comes true!

Gerald, Jim, et al.

I agree that the site is not supposed to create ill will. I am using email and facebook for my personal conversations with many alums. I certainly have never meant to offend by my posts here, and hope I have not.

We came for a generation that was idealistic, politically motivated, and opionistic. Age hasn't changed that for many.

I have never been to a reunion and look forward to seeing everyone. I acknowlege the hard work the reunion commitee has put in and also live too far away to help.

I regret that more people do not post on this blog. I often see many names online (reading) that have never posted. I hope that the banter between a small group has not held people back from voicing their thoughts in this forum.

Every time I take a little time off from posting, I receive many requests to post again, and not just from the "consistant posters".

For anyone who is concerned its not all or nothing. You have the option to only come on Saturday and either Friday with Saturday. Myself, Jim and Norm and the committee have worked very hard to make a cost effective weekend and the means for connecting with classmates. We have done the best we can and are not trying to insult anyone. If for some reason anyone has a hardship please contact one of the three of us and it will be kept confidential. We appreciate your understanding and any of the three of us are more than willing to discuss this or any other subject. Our phone numbers are on the Home Page.

Sandy, good thoughts put forth, thanks

Mitch, thanks for your good summation!! So true, so true, we ARE a generation of free speaking folks.

Everyone else, take what is yours and disregard the rest.

And just an FYI...these same folks have arranged ALL of our reunions if my memory serves me correctly. They deserve not only thanks for this one, but for all they have done for the last forty year to keep us all connected.

Further clarification regarding Friday night:

We are not having a dinner, but rather having appetizers which will be available for several hours between 7-midnight (which is how we kept the additional cost so low for Friday night).

Both nights will include a cash bar.

Also, both nights are planned to be informal.

And thank you EVERYONE for your kind words regarding the efforts of the Committee.

God bless the Reunion Commitee (RC). I think many of us are being ungrateful. They have worked hard for us. Let's stop criticizing, and get our good vibe back.

I have named myself as Chairman of the Reunion Financial Aid Committtee. Anyone that is too broke to come can contact me privately and confidentially and I will see about getting some of our wealthier alum to sponsor you. Sue Wold made a similar offer on her post.

If you are still feeling uptight or unhappy contact Louie and Steven, they still have their bongs. Or I can send you some good 60's music mixes.

I am so looking forward to seeing all of you at the reunion.

I too, would like to express my thanks for all of the compliments we have received regarding the weekend we are planning for our 40th reunion. The fact that many of us can connect prior to the event through this great site makes our anticipation of the reunion weekend even more exciting. While we can’t possibly please everyone, what’s more important here, is that 40 years since graduation, we still have the same great spirit that made us more unique than any other class. What we can all agree upon and hope to accomplish, is that each of us can reminisce about and share many of our experiences and feel a warm sense about our past.

Hi Everyone,
I have been very entertained every night, reading your posts. Sorry I never got to know more of you when I was at Heights. What a fun group! If we did not have 2 major family events this year, I might have been able to come to this reunion. We have a Bat Mitzvah in Portland, and my son's wedding in Phoenix, and we are helping to subsidize my parents, so they can come to the wedding in October. The committee has done a wonderful job of putting together this reunion, and this web site is fantastic. Stop complaining, and just enjoy! I'll be there is spirit. Shalom!
