50 Year Reunion

DETAILS

9/30/9

I realize it's early on just thinking about 50 years, but it's a good place to begin.  Submit suggestions for places to go, things to do, something totally different for 50 years, or just rest your case.

From the computer of Jim Grissom:

SOCK HOP - The CHS Class of 1966 recently had a class reunion at the same time as Octoberfest in Cleveland and, as part of their activities, sponsored a Sock Hop at the Country Club.  Some members of The Reets and The Tangents (remember Reets but Tangents must have been after our time) played for it, and it was open to anyone who wanted to attend for a $15 fee.  I understand that some of our classmates were there and really enjoyed it.  It has been suggested that other classes like ours offer such a gathering.

Octoberfest is traditionally on the second Saturday in October. Of course it isn't necessary for us to do it the same weekend as Octoberfest, but it is an exciting time, and lots of people come back to Cleveland for it.  For those of you who have never attended, there are bands, special entertainment, and a big bar-b-cue cook off.  There may be crafts, games, and vendors. We could set up a tent in the area along the railroad tracks and do our own cooking for Saturday lunch - or just brown bag it like we did for school.  Fred has said that we could use the Shed for a Friday night gathering as we did for our 40th.  All of this would be pretty informal, but I think that is probably what most would enjoy.

The biggest mistake we made for the 45th was not planning enough times to gather and visit.  This would allow for several opportunities to enjoy one another.  I called myself working on a mini reunion which turned out to be a maxi reunion since so many of you could come, and it was such a treat to have so many of us there.  I just didn't have enough time to talk to everyone and felt that it was too short.

Please let me know how you feel about these plans.  If you have other ideas and/or would like to work on the reunion, it would be so nice to have several people involved.  Luther has agreed to be the "point man" for the arrangements.  He feels that someone in Cleveland would be able to get us a tent, and Fred, I'll be happy to come "clean up" the Shed for you (before or after the event).

Love to all and a Very Merry Christmas,
Sandra

P.S. (In my younger days, I always loved adding this to my letters.)
Please respond to this email so that I will know that you have gotten it and say Yea or Nay, or Share Another Idea if this one doesn't appeal to you.  Be careful - If you Share Another Idea, it means that you want to plan the event!!!

I don't have emails or postal mail for these people - Cletus Beard, Mary Ann Crain, Jim Goudelock, Linda Griffin, Dorothy McGovern, Edwin Nordan, Mary George Martin, Fred Owens, Donna Dicesare Peeples, and Tony Tharpe.
