I've returned to Cleveland, yet again, after living in the SF Bay Area for most of the past 35 years. Those years were punctuated by a couple of summers in New York for graduate school, 3 years in Cleveland in the early 2000s and a year in DC working for the US Dept. of Education. My time now is devoted to volunteer efforts, generally related to the Episcopal Church. I serve on the Board of General Theological Seminary in New York and on diocesan and parish bodies. My avocation is mentoring young adults as they prepare for roles of leadership in their communities.
My husband is resident at Windsor Heights Alzheimer's and Dementia assisted living and is generally doing quite well physically. My son Tarrik Jackson lives in Denver. Clarence and I have six grandchildren, most of whom live in Southern California.
My work career includes 5 years with IBM here in Cleveland, 10 years with Xerox in San Francisco (sales and sales management), 10 years with the University of California in Berkeley and Oakland in development, program management and as associate director of a STEM program called MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement), one year at the Dept of Education in DC with a teacher professional development program and then 3 1/2 years with my brothers in a construction development company here in Cleveland. Then assorted consulting and project management roles in the Bay Area. My career in the Episcopal Church began as the director of admissions for Church Divinity School of the Pacific, an Episcopal seminary in Berkeley. I retired from CDSP in 2014.
