School Story:
I guess the story that has stuck in my mind for my entire life happened one sunny day in Nyack NY ...
The CPHS Marching Band accompanied by the Color Guard and Flag wavers were marching in the annual Fireman day Parade ... The perfect setting for adventurous adolescents .. drunken fireman willingly administering beer to anyone with a pulse ... heaven ...
Well as the story goes and I have conformation on this ... some of us manage to get a few too many Pabs Blue Ribbons and decide to steal a six foot sandwich from the bus of a neighboring school ...
I hate to point fingers here but the names Maryann Erhmann, Jimmy Schefell. Dave Dannielle seem to keep popping up in my mind .... having procured the said sandwich we bring it back to our own bus to consume along with a few more beverages ... As the salami and the beer start to distort our common senses ,someone dares me to start the bus and go for a ride ... having just acquire my driving permit . this made perfect sense to me ....
so I popped into the seat and turn the key ... unfortunately the bus was in gear and I didn't have my foot on the clutch ... the bus lunges forward . and surgically removes the side mirrors of both our bus and the bus next to us ......
in a panic we remove the mirrors from the ground and hide them in the french horn case in the back of the bus ... eventually the day ends, and it looks like we've escaped without as much as a dirty look .....
the problem is we're still drunk... so when I make a ceremonious presentation of the broken mirrors to Mr. Albert, he goes into a tirade about irresponsibly . school reputation, ..yada ,yada ,yada ... white noise.... we're drunk ....mistakes are made when Life is being learned ... what can I say ... not all memories reflect your finest moments ..........
"Some days your the bug, some days your the windshield "....
.PS he never came back to CPHS the next year ...
I think he joined the Salvation Army Band ...
I'll see you all at the reunion .... don't leave your keys in your cars .....
