It is with a heavy heart that I tell you we have lost another classmate.  Jerry Allen passed away yesterday 6/17/2017 from medical complications.  I have very fond memories of growing up with Jerry.  He was the athletic trainer from 7th grade thru high school and always had a great attitude, if you needed something Jerry was the guy to get it done.  We will miss him dearly.  Visitation will be Monday 6/19/17 6pm to 8pm at the Bailey Howard Funeral Home in Clyde and services Tuesday 6/20/17 10am at Cherry Heights Baptist Church.     Chuck Swofford

Hey Chuck (and everyone else)!

I'm glad to hear that a 50th reunion is being talked about. I'll be glad to help as needed, but I will be unable to be at the meeting on 10/19. (Judy and I will be at a football game in Austin.) Please keep me informed, and let me know how I can help.       Thanks!  Allan

Hope all is well with everyone and you are available for the planning meeting Sat Oct 19th 11am at the Pizza Haus in Clyde on N 1st.

I received a message from Allen Farmer who stated unfortunately unable to attend (going to football game in Austin, better be the UT vs Georgia game) I guess someone else will have to be "Curly" if we do a remake of "Green Grow the Lilacs" for those of you with a memory of the Jr Play.

Ok so here are a few things to be thinking about that we need to decide:

Number one of course will be the date, location, cost.

Then all the other particulars:

Name for the event - maybe

The Fifty Year Flashback, Cheers to Fifty Years, Back to the Future:75, Fabulous at 50 etc.

Who else should we invite, year before and year after?

Activities: Beer Pong (just kidding), Relays (I'll explain at meeting), guess which classmate,

Pictures "Now and then"

Donations: maybe bags with items from different places that wanna advertise?

Hopefully this will get your ideas flowing. See you at the meeting.

Thanks, Chuck - you can email me at exceler12@aol.com

Hey Chuck, and all the Clyde Bulldogs of '75 !

I wanted to offer a few ideas in reply to your questions about planning our event.

As to the date, I'm open to just about anything. Are we talking about later this year? Early next year? Next Spring?

For location, I have worked some with the new Doubletree in Abilene (on an event next May for Meals on Wheels). They have a great facility that could be tailored to our group, and they can turnkey a meal and a cash bar. I can check on pricing and availability if you and others think that might be an option to consider.

With the cost, would $100+/person be reasonable for a really nice party?

For a name, how about "Staying Alive Since '75", or "Chrome-Dome Never Thought We'd Live This Long!"

I'm open to other classes being invited.

Activities: ????  Maybe sitting around talking about our latest trip to the doctor? Knee surgeries? Colonoscopy? Comparing grandkids? Great- grandkids? Great-great-grandkids? How about a band and dance?

Definitely pictures! "Now and Then"

Anyway, that's a start. And yes, it is the UT/Georgia game! HOOK'EM!  And as to the Junior Play, I still look like Curly, it's just the Curly from The Three Stooges!

Regards, Allan

Obituary for Cindy Kay Dodson

Cindy Kay Dodson was born June 18, 1957, to Dale and Kay Dodson in Abilene, Texas. She had, however, grown up an army brat, allowing her the ability to visit and live in a great number of places across the world, England being one of her favorites growing up. Throughout it all, she then moved back to her home state, Texas. She resided in Midland, Texas, for years up until her passing.
Cindy had grown up an ever-curious child, always eager to learn more. School never tired her, which was evident to anyone who had known her, and she had even gone on to get her Master's in English. She loved experiencing new things and led a multitude of careers and hobbies. She had been a massage therapist, a dog walker/sitter, a writer, an editor, and had taught the two subjects she loved the most, English and Theatre, throughout West Texas.
In the year 1985, on November 16th, she had been blessed with her one and only child, James Ryan Gonzalez. He was known to be the light of her life. If unconditional love is more than a theory, Cindy's love for James was proof of it. Many of her favorite activities were spent alongside him, such as watching the Cowboys on Sundays, sitting out while he grilled, and simply enjoying one another's company.
Cindy always held a soft spot for animals. She had rescued and adopted countless dogs and cats in her life, her house always brimming with life and love. She enjoyed dog-sitting and taking them to hang out at the dog park, finding company in both the animals and people there.
James went on to give Cindy five grandchildren - Nevaeh, Jayden, Abigail, with DaLynne Edmondson, and then Bailey Gonzalez and Kaden Pitts with Kelly Brooks. She loved being a Nana to those kids more than anything and was the best at it. She would show up to every birthday, holiday celebration, and get-together she was asked to attend. If it was important to them, she was the first to be there. Even after the passing of James, Bailey, Kelly, and Kaden, she didn't once falter in presence and dedicated her entire life to her grandkids, including their brothers and cousins she also continuously loved, playing as important of a role towards them as she had James' kids. Despite her grandchildren moving away, her heart stayed with them until the end.
Cindy's health sadly worsened not long ago, and she wished only to see her grandchildren once more before her departure. Nevaeh, Jayden, and Abigail visited and ate lunch with her on March 17th, and she went to sleep one last time, passing away in the early morning of March 18th, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her son, James Gonzalez; his fiance, Kelly Brooks; her father, Dale Dodson; her mother, Kay Dodson-Kinkade; her stepfather, Leland Kinkade; her granddaughters, Bailey Gonzalez and Kaden Pitts; and so many others who were close to her.
Cindy Dodson is survived by her grandchildren, Nevaeh, Jayden, and Abigail Gonzalez; her brother, Rick Dodson; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless others whose hearts she touched.
A quote from our beloved Cindy's notes reads:
"Home is not a building. It doesn't matter where you live, because wherever you are, I am with you; and wherever we are together, we are home."
Cindy Dodson's memorial service will be Friday, March 21st, at 6:30 pm at Wilshire Park Baptist Church, located at 801 S. Bentwood Dr.
