Closing Remarks
CLOSING REMARKS TO CLASS OF 1979
by Hazel D Whiting
30 years, 30 years, 30 years class! This is a long time. Three decades since our graduation year. We have traveled many different paths. What started us down this road that led to the Class of 1979 graduation day? It began with our educators, our parents and teachers. You planted a tree that has grown for 30+ years. Our journey began at 1st grade and ended with 12th grade. You! Our teachers, educators, distinguished professors, made it possible for us to become what we are today. We have become physicians, teachers, nurses, business owners, real estate experts, laborers, etc. and the list goes on and on.
To our educators, we say thank you for your diligence, thank you for your support, thank you for trying so hard and never giving up on us. Thank you for taking time out to be with us tonight. We love you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Now to you Class of 1979. We are the branches of the tree that has grown in many different directions. We have come together tonight from MS, AK, TN, GA, TX, NY, and CA. We have made the effort to come together. Each and every one that is here has played a part in making this spectacular weekend a part of our dream, “The Impossible Dream.” I want to thank the Class of 1979 and the reunion committee that worked so hard. No matter how small or large a part you played, it took all of us, working as a team, to make this happen. I love each and every one of you! Thank you for your kind words, encouragement, prayers, and most of all for coming to share and renew our unbreakable bond. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
