Just Logged On?
The Class of 1989 Web site has been online since May. Since then, various e-mails have been sent out to all classamtes who have logged on. Depending on when you joined, you might have missed some important information in those e-mails, and so we've listed them all below...
January 19, 2010
Hello Classmates!
We wanted to let you all know that the Class of ‘89 Web site will not be expiring anytime soon! We are excited that the site will not simply vanish, especially since nine classmates have joined since the week of the reunion.
This is possible as several reunion committee members declined to be reimbursed for reunion expenses, so that we would have enough money left over for the site to live on. At this point, we have the funds to continue for the next two years! Wahoo!
This raises some important points:
1. Please remember that the e-mail address you provided to us, and that you use to log on to the class site, should be kept current. Meaning, if you change your e-mail address, you must change your contact information on the site. Otherwise, the information we send you via e-mail won't reach you (and we have not done any postal mailings).
Many of you use your work e-mail address, which is all good, but just remember that if work ever changes your e-mail address, you lose your job, or get a new one, you need to update your contact info.
2. If you do change your e-mail address, please also remember to change your spam filter setting to allow messages from this address to come through.
3. Also, the search for missing classmates continues! Encourage any classmates you see, or some in contact with, to join our site.
Since the week of the reunion, the following classmates have logged on:
Deborah Fraley Brosemer
Nicole Vazal Primett
Heather Beaudoin Marley
James Stubbs
Amy Rozines
Jesus Valbuena
Diana Rivera Pedroso
Thomas Dibb
Wayne Newcomb
Welcome guys! Thanks for joining and apologies that you missed out on all of the information on the reunion.
However, it looks as if our next reunion might be just 4 years away! Through the reunion evaluation form, the vast majority of you have voted in support of a 25th reunion.
The reunion evaluation form (link on the main page) will remain online until Jan 31st and then be removed. However, the five questions regarding the next reunion will remain online indefinitely. That will give classmates who are new to the site a chance to vote. So please, all classmates can fill out the first 5 questions on the evaluation form, whether you attended the reunion or not.
If you have not done so already, please vote for the month and type of event you would like to have. We want to hear from as many people as possible.
I know that several of you asked about making contributions to allow the Web site to continue on further, and you are welcome to do that. The site costs us $9 per month. Perhaps the site will continue to survive beyond the next two years, and make it to our 25th reunion in 2014.
Any contribution is welcome and can be sent to: Amy Travison Jasiewicz,
Thanks guys!
Happy New Year!

Hey Y'all - We are really getting close to the reunion now! So far all of the behind-the-scenes plans are going smoothly, and we're really getting excited. First off, we want to say a big thank you to those of you who have already registered for the reunion and sent in a check. We asked people to send in their payment by the 31st, if possible, to assist the reunion committee as we begin to make purchases for favors, name tags, etc., and make deposits for the DJ, The Magnet Man and the Holiday Inn. We received a bunch of checks over the last two weeks and it was enormously helpful -- thank you so much! October 31st Please finalize your profile by the 31st, so that we can begin to put the reunion booklet together. There is no need to delete any of your photos. Just check over your profile to ensure that you have included only the information that you want to appear in the booklet. November 14 Anyone who plans to attend the reunion needs to fill out the online registration form by Saturday, November 14th. An e-mail reminder will be sent to everyone when we get closer to the deadline. November 21st This is the date by which we need to receive all payments, so please be sure to allow enough time for your check to reach us by mail. Some of you have already contacted Amy about extenuating circumstances that might prevent you from meeting the deadline. (No worries, I haven't forgotten.) A final note, if you are not coming to the reunion, please deselect that option on your profile. Many Thanks! The Reunion Committee

Now -- here are some important dates to keep in mind:
October 15, 2009
Here are some of the details on what we have planned for our big night! Bust A Move We’ve got a great DJ lined up for the night. Jim Catalfamo from Digital Sounds has a huge catalog of hits, from the 80s and beyond. After a few drinks you’ll be dancing like it’s 1989! If you’ve got some favorites that you want to hear, let him know, he’ll be taking requests. The Magnet Man Get your photo taken by The Magnet Man, and in 9 seconds he’ll print out a picture magnet for you to take home as a keepsake. There will be a photo booth set up where you can pose in front of a green screen, and select your background for the photo. Every person in each shot gets their own copy of the photo magnet, and you can be in as many shots as you like. Since we’ll all be looking our best, this is your chance to get a great picture of you with your spouse, significant other, or closest friends. Recreate your “senior buddy picture” from the yearbook, or do a group shot with your friends and their spouses. No matter how many pictures you have taken, or how many people are in the shot, it’s all free. Class Performance Classmates Tom Miller and Joely Schwenk will be performing a short set for us that night, with Tom on the acoustic guitar, and Joely on vocals. They perform locally as a duo, and are known as, “Stretch.” Very cool! We’re really looking forward to hearing them play. Table Trivia Be careful who you sit at a table with, they might end up being part of your trivia team! Good news for those of you who can’t forget the 80s; we’re planning to ask you all a few trivia questions, and tables will have come up with answers as a team. Study up on your 80s pop culture, music, news and events! Classmate Recognition There are a few special classmates that we want to take the time to recognize during the reunion. What better time to express our appreciation and admiration to those of you who have done some remarkable things over the last 20 years. Group Photo Once again, we are planning to get all of the classmates together for one huge group shot. It’s the photo op of the decade! After all, we still look pretty darn good! Dinner/Drinks All of this is in addition to our buffet dinner, desserts and 2 hours of unlimited beer, wine and soda. And More! It’s been 10 years since our last reunion, and it could be another 10 before the next one! If you’ve had fun e-mailing classmates or just reading about them, being all together in the same room is going to be way better. So, Who Else is Coming? The best way to find out who is coming to the reunion is to click on the “classmate profiles” link at the top left corner of the home page. There you’ll see the legend that includes the link, “attending the reunion”. Click on that, and it will list only those who have indicated they are attending the reunion on their profile. If you are not attending, or unsure, please deselect that option on your profile, so that classmates have a good sense of who else will be there. We’re getting close now! So send in those registrations and payments. It’s going to be a great night! Thank you so much! The

Hi Everyone - We are starting work on the "reunion booklet" that will be given to classmates at the reunion. The book is basically a compilation of the profiles that have been published on the class web site. So, we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to review their profile and confirm that everything they have written is something they would like included in the booklet. Please finalize your profiles by November 1st. We can't guarantee that changes made after that will be included in the booklet. Obviously, any contact information that you have provided the site administrators will not be included, so please don't delete that from your account. We'll need that for the next reunion! Photos We have not yet determined if the booklet will be in paper or electronic form (a PDF file on a CD). Either way, guests attending the reunion will not be given copies, the publication is for classmates only. Two general suggestions: if your profile lists the full name and date of birth of any of your children, consider making the information more general, i.e., Ryan, 8 yrs old. Also, we recommend that everyone take advantage of the option to block the general public from viewing your profile. Do this by selecting "Edit Profile", and putting a check mark in the box labeled "Profile Visibility" near the bottom of the screen. Please note: if a profile contains only a birthday, or the last date it was modified, it will not be included in the booklet. A quick reminder for those attending the reunion: fill out the registration form and mail a check Many Thanks! The Reunion Committee

The only info that will be in the book is that which can be seen by any classmate who logs on.
If your profile contains your senior portrait, that will also go into the book next to your listing. If you have posted a current photo that has you in it, we will include that as well, but it will be cropped so that it is only a head shot of you.
by Oct. 31st. We are working on some great stuff for the night of the reunion. More details coming soon....

Dear Classmates: The Class of 1989 has created a team to run/walk in the Race for Hope which is being dedicated to our classmate, Susan Britain, who lost her battle with brain cancer earlier this year. If you are interested in joining us on October 25th, please visit the CRSS Race for Hope site at http://capitalregionspecialsurgery.com/raceforhopealbany/index.html. Select the Register & Donate tab then Register Online. In Step 3 of your registration, make sure you select our team which is called “Class of 1989”. No entries will be accepted after October 16th and there is no day of race registration. If you are interested in making a contribution to the cause, the Class of 1989 has also set up a fundraising page. The purpose of the CRSS Race for Hope is to raise money to help those affected with brain, head and neck cancer and keep that money local. This means when you register to run/walk in or donate to the CRSS Race for Hope the funds collected go to help those in your community, your neighborhood or your family. Please visit the site at http://www.active.com/donate/CRSSRaceforHope/Classof1989. Kristin Dence (Brady) has offered to be the team captain and as we get closer to Sunday, October 25th, she will be sending out additional information about the event to people who are registered. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to drop her an email at kdence1@nycap.rr.com.

Hello Fellow 89ers!
Thank you so much for the tremendous response to our new Web site. More than 150 classmates have joined the site and we’re really excited about that, and the fact that so many are interested in coming to the reunion.
Given this response, we thought it would be a good time to explain some things about the site, including how the “missing classmates” section will be handled.
More Than The Reunion
Please be assured that we will not be “hunting anyone down”, or bothering them. However, we do feel responsible for making an attempt to reach everyone, as some people where unaware of the 10 year reunion and assumed that no one attempted to locate them. Therefore, our goal with this outreach effort is to simply ensure that as many classmates as possible are aware of the site, and the reunion. The best way to confirm this is to have people log on, or contact us in some way.
For those of you who have yet to visit, the site is about more than the reunion. If you log on, it is not assumed that you will be going to the reunion, and we can assure everyone that at no point will we be pressuring or pestering people to attend. The site is simply a fun, low-key way to read about what your fellow classmates have been up to. Unlike facebook or classmates.com, you don’t have to contact anyone directly, and no one knows whose profile you have visited. Classmates are not required to post any personal or contact information either.
Outreach Effort
Until a classmate logs on, however, their name will remain listed in the “missing” section. Over the summer, reunion committee members will be reviewing these names and making an attempt to locate or contact each of them. This may be via e-mail, or a notice through the mail. As you can imagine, this is the most time consuming aspect of a reunion, and mailings can be a significant expense.
Wanted: Missing Classmates
We urge everyone to take a good look at the missing classmates link. Is there anyone on there who you still have a connection with? Many of us have Facebook friends who have yet to log on.
The other alternative is to try and “friend request” dozens of people, but many of you are already in touch with these folks. So, we ask that you check and see if any missing classmates are among your Facebook friends, and remind them about the site.
If you feel comfortable, the easiest way to encourage them to visit the site may be to simply forward this message to them. That way, they’ll have all of the information they need.
Even if you are not in direct contact with someone you see on the list, maybe your parents are still in touch with their parents, or you have siblings that are in touch with their siblings. Many connections have already been made this way.
Absolutely any effort you put forth to reduce the number of missing classmates would be deeply appreciated by the reunion committee. Many of you have already been doing this, and it is so awesome!
Thank you all so much!
