My adventurous Army career was filled with many amazing times and hard life experiences which taught me a lot. Assigned to the 82nd Airborne, I was the 4th and first black female to my Battalion. That's where I learned the meaning of "Hard Core". Next I attended the Defense Language Institute to study Korean language and culture, it was a great year. Hawaii was my favorite duty station, married then, it was kinda like living the good life. There we both graduated Hawaii Pacific University after studying Supervisory Leadership. The food, native traditions like wearing Mu Mu's and beaches will never be forgotten. I wanted to stay but was transferred to WA state then later left the military to avoid a tour in Korea. Later divorced, went back to school and started a new career with the Postal Service in Seattle WA. My Postal career was excellent and the positions were interesting, challenging and fulfilling. I retired early after my dad became ill and moved back home. Now I enjoy time with family, my dogs, Veterans, weekly metaphysical reading group and my long time hobby dancing and traveling with our Non Profit line dance group Southern Grooveline. The relationships and connections are special and have been so much fun. Dancing helps me stay healthy, social and very active.

I loved gymnastics and had a blast at the Black Olympics representing Eau Claire with Joan, Carolyn and Letitia at Cheyney State University. I got left by the bus on Track and Field day after walking downtown with Donnie a runner and basketball player from NJ. We had to find a ride back to the college and everybody gave me hard time. The situation scared me and I just knew my mother was going to kill me for getting in trouble.
