History since graduation:
After HS and Jr. College at St. Pauls - Concordia, I went on to Concordia - St. Paul (MN) and Sr. College graduation as a teacher! From there, went straight to Long Beach, CA where I taught mostly inner city 5/6th and 7/8th students. After a couple years, I moved across town to Tustin, CA teaching much the same thing while finishing my Masters in Educational Administration at Cal State University - Fullerton. I suppose that got my foot in the door because I was 'called' to move up to Principal for the remainder of my 8 years there.
From Peace - Tustin, CA, I went to Grace in Arlington, TX for 8 years as Principal, teacher, athletic director, computer coordinator, adult softball team coordinator.... many of you know the routine because you do the same thing, right?!
Then....
My wife's best friend was part of a home-school co-op in Northern California which was in need of some administration. They requested that we move out of our comfort zone to the boondocks!
Now in Arlington, TX, there exists a school - Grace Preparatory Academy - written about by Focus On The Family having a rather new philosophy of education termed 'Parent-based education.' Without going into detail on their unique method of education, our family prayerfully accepted the invitation to move to California and help this home-school co-op become a similar type of Christian school. My experience there was amazing, but we soon realized that tuition does not adequately fund parent-based home-school endeavors.
Our family had found a home in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It was small-town life just above fog level and just below the snow (about an hour east of Sacramento). Our five acres allowed us to keep our dog, cats, chickens, turkeys, ducks, emu, horse, turtles, and of course the most difficult of all... teenagers!!!!
As of 2010, we now reside in Forney, TX, about a half hour east of Dallas.
We currently own our own business, and my wife and I not only spend time with each other at home, but as co-workers as well! If you remember my love for animals (Sir J?), it will be no surprise that our family business is animal enclosures which we ship nation- and world-wide.
We are settled in her for now, but our goal is to eventually open a romantic retreat center for couples in need of 'get-away' time.
