I was notified by Dale Cosby that Leila Campbell Cosby passed away July 6, 2014 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.  As soon as more details are known, I will post them.

Thanks so much to the reunion committee members who have hosted so many of our reunions:  Coke Wilson, Jean Ann Clark, Jean Flint, Judy Langford, Butch Underbrink et al.  Really appreciate all of your efforts over the years.  Your remaining in Corpus and your hard work kept up connected.  Again, it was good to see so many of our ‘old’ classmates.  I really enjoyed the tour of the school too.  Many special moments with special people at our 55th.  Muchas gracias!!        Mary Anne Park-Owens

I want to thank all the people who made the 55th Class Reunion possible.  It took a lot of work to put it together, and I appreciate you all.

When I got back to Tyler yesterday, a neighbor asked me how everything went and I told her that out of a 10 (being the highest), I would give it an eleven.  I will be thinking about each of you who attended (and I tried to visit with everyone), as I go about my daily life, and I will thank God for the time I got to spend with each one of you. I was sorry that I didn't see some classmates who were there for the 50th reunion; but were not able to attend the 55th.

My prayer is that God will enrich your lives, and that we will meet again, if not on this earth, but  in Heaven where we will celebrate the ultimate reunion.

Thanks to all the people who were involved in planning, organizing and hosting the 55th reunion. I know this is something you worked on for a long time and I,for one, really appreciated  it. I think it was the best one we have had. Everyone was relaxed and enjoyed visiting with one another. A good time was had by all !!!!

Very sorry to hear of Susan's passing!  We were always in the same homeroom and she was as gracious and friendly as she was beautiful.  So glad we were able to see her at the last reunion. She was a very special lady who I will always remember.

My heart goes out to the family of our wonderful classmate, Susan Marks.  What an inspiration she was at our last reunion.  Will always remember her vitality, joyful spirit, and determination.  Loved being in Amistad with her.  Peace and sweet memories from Mary Anne.

I too am very sorry to learn of Susan's passing.  We were very good friends in High School as she went with one of my good friends.  We all shared many fun times.  She was a sweet, outgoing, vibrant, fun loving, caring and lovable person - she will be greatly missed by all her friends and her family.  Our prayers go out to her lovely daughters and the remainder of her family, in hopes that God will give them strength to get through this painful and very sad time.  Jimmy & Kathi Ashworth

Although Susan Marks and I were classmates, we were not close friends, but acquaintances as we passed in the halls and shared some classes. I am always disappointed when we lose a classmate.

She was a very friendly, loving person and am so sorry to learn of her passing. May our hearts heal in the days ahead as we all remember the fun and great times we had with Susan. My deepest Sympathy to her family.

I knew Susan from the second grade until recently, when we were both doing lap swimming at the same pool. So that's what, sixty-seven years? I posted a notice here when she had her stroke and the tumor was discovered; I feared then it wouldn't be long but she held on and inspired us all.

So goodbye, Susan, may you rest in peace. I still remember you as a cheerleader.

This is a general suggestion to all classmates of '59. Yes, we are all getting older and yes, we don't always like what we see in the mirror, but we have no control over nature's process and our genetic makeup. With that in mind, it would be "fun" (?) and neat to post photos of ourselves in our later years, and our families, if desired, on this site so we can see how wisdom, and experience, and happiness have helped us survive. Some are more courageous than others, and that's understandable. Thanks. Jim

Jim you are so right about pictures.  Cell phone cameras are always clicking away. It would be nice if we share  our family photos.  Also photos showing our life today.  Mary Lou

A classmate is looking for Pattee Critz Barton. Not sure if she was part of the class of '58 or '60. She used to live on Floyd Street in Corpus, does anyone have any information?

I think that Pattee Critz was in the class behind us; I also remember that she had an older brother---probably in class of '57 or '58???

Would see and visit with Pattee from time to time until a few years ago.  She was married to local lawyer, but divorced.  Will try to locate.  Bob Blackmon

So sad to hear about Marie Jones Porterfield passing this morning.  Thank you Toni for letting us know.  I remember Marie so well.  She was a beautiful person inside and out.  I was in Girl scouts with her and remember her playing the accordion.  Lots of good memories.  May her family be comforted .

I too was saddened to learn of the death of Marie Jones, a beautiful soul.  I was also in Girl Scouts with Marie; I'm thinking that her older sister was our leader. Wishing her family peace.

I sit beside Marie two different class years at Sam Houston Elementary. What a beautiful person she was and like every other guy in school I was madly in "puppy love" with her. I offered her my football shoe cleat (custom at the time) complete with a small hole drilled in it and a silver chain but she declined and let me down gently in favor of a fella who was huskier and better looking than me. Prayers and blessings to any surviving family members she has.

I am so sorry to hear of Marie Jones' passing.  She was a beautiful person, inside and out, and I enjoyed our friendship in junior high and high school very much.  We had much in common, and although we lost touch over the years  I will always remember the good times (and bad) that we shared.  Rest in peace, dear friend.

Has anyone seen or know of an obituary for Marie Jones or know where she lived when she passed away?

I was fortunate to met several beautiful girls that became wonderful women at Baker Jr High. Marie, Dorothy, Geraldine, Joyce, Kay, Marilynn, Tommie, and so many caring souls. Your voices and touch helped make us boys into men. The memories of you are as bright as ever. You are truly missed!
